Salvaged VR4 or Galant clone?

I'm just looking for some opinions.

If I were to pick up a totaled 91 galant vr4. It would need some extensive front end work.

Would it be better to swap the parts to a regular galant and make a clone, or keep the one with the salvaged title?

I figure, if I am planning to keep the car, then I should just go with the clone, since it'd be less work. But it is also nice to say that it is a real VR4, salvaged title or not...

Nice deal though, about $5k in mods (not labor) on a 91 vr4 with a rebuilt engine for under $1k.

The real vr4 will be worth a whole lot more, I'll say that much. If i'm not mistaken, they only sent 3000 6Gs here over the course of 2 years. It's destined to be a classic. If you have the means, please resurrect the vr4 You won't regret it

Just remember the resale on slavage is horrible. Its like a bad curse...

The resale on VR4s was extremely high a year ago, and now people are nearly having a hard time giving them away. I love the cars but I wouldn't bet on high resale in the future. The value might come back or it might not.

making a clone is kinda pointless in my opinion any one with time and money and make a clone of anything. You can really call your self lucky if u rebuild and make the orignal look and drive great

first you would have to find a galant GSX, that is the only way to come anywhere close to being worth it, you cannot convert a non gsx to turbo. as far as a vr4, the vr4 stands for its 4 wheel steering capabilities, the back wheels turn with the front, all of that would also need to be switched over to have a true vr4. the other problem is trying to find a gsx, the gsx is even more rare then a vr4. if the damage is very bad, the cheapest thing to do is buy a vr4 shell, and the transfer everything over, this will give you a resellable, collectable car, cheaper and easier then a vr4 clone. I can help with anything you need vr4 related, or find you someone that can.

I vote vr4 shell and swap the goodies.

the single most valuable peice is the dash plate, there is no connection to the vin number, so if the roller doesnt have on you can swap that as well.
