Hi,
does anyone know how to tune the SAFC? I'm running big 16g turbo with tock injectors, downpipe no cat, front mount cooler, injen intake.
I keep detonation @ 15-16 PSI AND I DONT EVEN HAVE A BOOST CONTROLLER!!
:banghead::banghead:
:confused::confused:

I NEED HELP ON LOW AND HI THROTLE HOW MUCH I PUT IN EACH RPM?

THANKS GUYS!

Sorry I meant to say I keep getting DETONATION @15-16 psi!
Also meant STOCK INJECTORS...

You keep getting det because your leaning out and about to melt a piston or two.....if your fuel system is stock and your on a stock T-25 you can lean out at 15-16psi so with a big 16G (which will flow about twice as much as a T-25) this is far from a shocker WTF.....Before you go any farther you need to at least invest in a wally (Walbro 255) and snag up some 550cc injectors to pad your self and then go to the dyno before things go horribly wrong....horribly fast.....
You also need to keep in mind that as you adjust the fueling to the car you'll also be adjusting the ignition timing ,which is why the AFC can make such significant gains in horsepower when you have it set up properly with the correct fuel mods.

Anytime you manipulate the airflow signal to the ecu it will effect timing. Removing fuel on the S-AFC advances timing so you'll need to pay particular attention to boost pressure overall, and you may even want to go 1 range cooler on plugs if you plan to go higher than the 15-16psi your running now just to ward off detonation and keep things safe....Just remember that even tuning with an AFC can really botch things up if your going the wrong direction with the tune. You want to make sure that someone whos familiar with the S-AFC is setting it up for you or you need to know how to use it well before you go adjusting fueling and throttle points or your results can be less than good.
Take it to a good tuner and let them set it up for you. It'll cost you more but it'll be tuned right on a dyno where you can see the gains......Above all else...your car is thirsty..Give it some more to drink...
William-

Thanks William....
Now that I have installed a bigger injectors 750cc,
My car now won't pass 4500 rpm? It's shows on the air/fuel gauge that it's fluctuating from mid to lean only. Please let me know what I can do fix this problem.
Thanks,
Dino

750's are on the verge of being too big to tune with the SAFC. You need to use smaller injectors if you're going to stick with the SAFC, or switch to DSMLink if you're not. Tuning the SAFC is easy as pie, just look up the manual online. I also hope that you have a wideband...

650cc is usually the highest you can go on SAFC alone as a general rule.

On a side note, you have a 99 GST (has the black box ecu that can be flashed), why not just buy the ecuflash cable and tune it thoroughly without lying to the ecu via a SAFC? You can probably buy the cable with what you get from selling the SAFC, ecuflash software is free.

680cc injectors max, wideband, and a datalogger are needed to tune with an SAFC. Log your A/F ratio and log your knock counts. A wideband is helpful but you can just tune for knock. Lean it out a little bit at a time and until it starts knocking, then add more fuel. I would try to get 0 counts of knock but some people think 3-5 counts of knock once in a while isn't a huge problem. Every 3 counts of knock, the ECU will pull a degree of timing. Seeing that you can't adjust the timing map, just try to get it to 0 counts of knock.

You have a 99 so if you want to switch up your tuning system, you don't need DSMlink. A cheaper route to go is with the Tactrix 2.0 cable, ECUFlash, EVOscan, and the Ceddymods.

+1 on ECUFlash w/ Ceddymods for tuning, and without a wideband and a logger you really dont know what your engine is doing so you cant tune it properly, as far as the rasp sound it could be a number of things, try to pinpoint where exactly the noise is coming from, i.e. is it under the valve cover if so taking the oil fill cap off while its running should make it louder there are a dozen things that can make noises, if you cant pinpoint it post up a video and we can try to help.
