oko i recently bought another 91 tsi awd.when i bought it it ran perfect and drove perfect.
The last owner had a SAFC installed but he told me it was just taped in and not soldered in.When i went in to solder the safc in i noticed a couple of wires were not taped the same place as the vfaq for safc wiring.Well of corse i moved them.1 day later the car goes into limp mode.
I checked the TCU and found a leaking cap and a fishie smell. Replaced it and cleaned the board. This had no effect on limp mode.
My main question is "will a misswired SAFC throw a automatic into limp mode?"Is the wiring differant for A/t ,5 speeds?????
I dont believe it would be but if someone KNOWS please edducate me.:beatentodeath:

ok so i have the codes pulled from the auto tranny.code 21.two long pulsses and one short pulse.
code is open circut kickdown switch.
ok now where is the kickdown switch????ive searched to no avail!!!!!

OK ive solved the problem myself!!!!!!!after searching the topic KICKDOWN SERVO and TCU and LIMP MODE ive found the problem. The TCU was dead or dienig and after replacing with one from a cool guy on DSMclassifieds we're on the road again with no CELs or tranny problems.
