hello, i have a GSX and have a Big 16g evo gt turbo, injen intake, 3"APex'i downpipe, Greddy evolution Cat back exhaut, Cyclone intake, AEROmotive fuel system, greddy profec b boost control, SAFC II, Stage 3 block (stock head), ported exhaust manifold(came with turbo), various gauges(EGT,boost,air/fuel), ACT 2100 lb clutch, tockico illumina skocks, eibach springs, Front mount w/ 2.5" piping, balance shaft eliminated, high flow oil pump, crower pistons, knife ground crank
my question is, and i would be very appreciative for help with this, is getting my SAFC tuned. i have had it for 3 years and feel i am not getting the most out of it because it has never been properly tuned. once i installed my turbo & boost controller (set @ 20psi) and i am now (i believe) hitting a fuel cut. i will be pulling strong and at about 5000 rpm it feels like my tranny just fell out and i should be going back to pick up the pieces...i have to (with my pedal foot) control how much throttle i provide so i dont build up too much boost and cause the fuel cut.
i am running stock injectors and i also need help choosing the appropriate size of injector to get. if im going to spend the money i wanna get the 660's but will this be too much?
for those of you out there that have similar setups or that have a good piece of advice you would like to tell me please let me know. i know this car can be tuned in and run a lot better than what s doin right now and it really bothers me knowing i have a sweet car and cant run it smoothly through the rpm band.

thanks in advance guys.

Get some 660's and a wbo2 all at once. It will make tuning so much easier. Not to mention a fuel pump also. The fuel cut most likely is happening because of a boost leak, causing the turbo to over work and over running the maf.

ill get back with you on the hi-throttle settings shortly, didnt drive that car today...

whats the difference in a ball injector vs. disc? also what brands do you guys like to run/recommend?
sorry but what is a wbo2
as far as a fuel pump, what do you all think about the evo or supra mod. if not those what about walbro? had one but never installed it b/c i heard they were prone to failure, so i ebayed it off.

how can i check for the boost leak? and is "maf." the exhaust manifold?

also when you guys tune do you use a dyno($175,hr in my area), on the highway(what i have been doing), or just parked in the garage revving the engine(figured this was the worse than the highway method and bad for the car).

thanks for the info guys and i will get back with you on those current safc settings. thanks once again, and sorry for the long post

Ok the wbo2 is a wideband o2 sensor. They are much more accuarte for tuning. As for fuel pumps teh evo and supra are both good. And so are walbros. But if your going to get a walbro go for a 255 and get an afpr (adjustable fuel pressure regulator) so you will have enough to handle what power you want to make and you dont have to upgrade later. As far as tuning the highway is good asl ong as you dont get caught but dyno tuning is alot better but its only good for tuning full throttle runs. Youll have to drive your car around to get ## street tune done. Also maf stands for mas air flow sensor. And heres a link on how to do a boost leak and build a boost leak tester

Your ###### hitting fuel cut b/c your running 20psi on stock injectors. I would deffinately upgrade to 650cc. precision turbo and engine injectors are a good injector. also i agree with the above posts. You'll need a wideband to accurately messure your a/f ratios. Other than that i think you have a good set up with potential to make some good power. Good luck:thumb:

i have an aeromotive afpr.
if i get 660's there is no chance that i would have too much fuel, and run rich, is there?
i also have a leak tester that i made when my original turbo went bad, i will put it on and see if i get any leaks. once i get home i will post my safc settings. any of you guys near Asheville, NC by chance?

before turbo

Once you get that wide band you will see clearly if you are runing too rich or lean. Also that boost leak test will help out alot. You could have your SAFC regulate your injectors, that way they wont make your car run so rich. Also having that AFPR help out alot.

ok made a boost leak tester and no leaks! at least thats good. What brand of wbo2 and injectors would you all recommend? Im liking the RC injectors but not sure about a wbo2, theyre pretty pricy for some($300-$400) but then others are $150, so whats the difference in the higher priced ones compared to the cheaper brands? Thanks guys

First lower your boost to 14psi at most w/ your stock injectors. 20 psi is way too much for stock injectors.

Make sure to do a boost leak test as well.

He's a VENT-ER!!!!!!!:toobad:

That's another issue thats got your ECU going:confused:WTF:confused:

Care to elaborate? What is a Vent-Er? I have tuned my boost back to stock level and i have no boost leaks. What brand of 660cc's should i get? Also whats a good wbo2? Thanks for the help guys, sorry if i sound like a rookie

He means you are venting your bov causing it to run rich in between shifts.

I'm running set of PTE 780, eprom, keydiver and love it. Find yourselve a ebay eprom get a chip from keydiver.com for all your setting and call it good. The safc is worthless and will blow sh!t up if you don't know what you're doing. I went and got my safc tune at a local shop here and I wasn't satisfy with the results. Got Eprom and keydiver to replace safc and my car runs a whole lot stronger. Bigger injectors and safc is worthless to try to tune by yourself, results in a blown motor.

Another thing, replace that rubber pipe with a alloy.

wow thanks guys, didnt know i was this much out of whack!!!!! How could i recirculate my BOV with my current BOV (turboxs type rfl)? Im going to try an find an alloy upper intercoole rpipe asap! Thanks again fellas, i greatly appreciate your help and thank you even more for bearing with me!

PS wheres a good place online to buy injectors(im wanting RC 660cc's)

There is no such thing as keydiver.com You might want to double check your suggestion before posting it.

It can be found here - KEYDIVER Chips - DSM ECU Tuning

wimploki, thanks for the clarification. would you recommend a stage 1, 2, or 3?

I have ordered PTE 680cc injectors, a Walbro 255 l/ph fuel pump, and am now looking for wideband o2's. Once I get the wideband I am going to take my GSX to a local AWD dyno and have it tuned properly. A guy at the shop specializes in SAFC tuning.
My question is with the 680 fuel injectors, I have heard the stock fuel rail is sufficient(no decrease/resistance) to run. What do you all think and i this true? I dont want my 680cc's to be limited by my fuel rail, but I heard it is non-restricting, I just would like to make sure. Thanks!
