I'm getting down to my ideas. My spark plug snapped and the thread are stuck in the head. I got it to budge a little bit with a sqaure easy out but it's not moving anymore. I seen people use a torch and then the threads come out pretty easy. My question is can I put a torch down to the spark plug and torch it for a couple minutes or even seconds? Will engine ignite?

I have seen this done before. Make sure to disconnect your battery.. "" Will engine ignite "" It may but only the fuel in that cylinder .. My friend used a propane bottle and that got it hot enough to turn out with an easy out ( in your case a square easy out ) Keep in mind that aluminum heads or block don`t take kindly to a acetylene torch ..

That was plan. I have a propane torch. I was just nervous that if I stick the torch down the spark plug whole that the engine would explode or something. Lol. I'm always thinking the worse.. I also have a easy out. I probly spent $60 on different easy outs. And freeze spray and pb blast. I want to crawl in a whole and die.

Pull the other plugs and you’ll be fine. I’m curious how the flame from the torch will react since it’ll be down the cylinder. Gasoline will not ignite with heat, it needs spark or flame and the injector is a good distance away. My guess is that it’s cross threaded and you’ll have to pull the head worst case scenario.

The reason it's stuck is it's been in there for a while. Some how water got on the plug and rusted

I had the engine rebuilt about 11 years ago when I was 19years old. Then I moved out of my parents and got a daily driver. So my eclipse just sat. Now I'm getting it on the road and back going. It was that the plugs where bad. I just bought new ones and wanted to changed them.

Also how long should I leave the torch on the threads? A couple minutes?

Gotcha. Spray some rust penetrant and let it soak over night. Then try easy out. If you still need heat, I’d try increment of 30 seconds. 30, 1 min, 1.5 min etc. Again, not sure how the flame will react so keep that in mind as it’ll begin too heat the torch tip and work back towards you.
Rust penetrant will catch on fire once you put the torch down there

I've tried pb and letting it soak for atleast a week

Yeah throw the torch in there
Are you saying that sarcastically? Lol Being that I've had it soaking for a while with pb. Lol

No. Didn’t know you soaked it already. Heats the last thing to try before pulling the head off. Hopefully it comes out 🤞

If a fire starts do I let it burn out or spray it with a fire extinguisher. I know these are stupid questions and someone is gonna make fun of me for them.

All good. You should be able to blow it out with your mouth or just cover the hole with a rag.

With my luck the whole car goes on fire. I'm go na go try in a few. I'm so upset about this. Everything was going good. I got it insured and registered. Now this. UGHHHH 😢🔫.

It’s always one step forward, two steps back. If you get it out, run the threads back and forth to clean the threads. You can apply some oil to the threads to pick up loose particles.

The aluminum head contains the outer threads in this case, and should expand very nicely with some propane torch heat. Don't let the flame hit one spot for too long, keep it moving around a bit. No need to heat the steel plug end, the cooler the better. You want the aluminum to expand (which it will, much more than steel anyway). This is good at breaking corrosion free, and for allowing the penetrating oil to go deeper in and help lube everything. If the threads were badly crossed at installation, heat might not help. You'll be taking the head off, as others have suggested. I'd alternate heat and spray a few times, then heat and try removing it right away. Wear gloves!

Thanks. Gonna try when I get home. When the plug was installed it screwed in nice and easy.. rush is my enemy. I can see the rust on the hex that came out. I got it to move a qtr turn and that's it. So I ordered a double edged extrctor thinking Mabe I could turn it back and little. Then forward. And I cant get this double edge extractor to bite. I will use the easy out when I torch it. IVE BEEN PRAYING TO THE DSM HEAVENS!!

We’re praying to them as well 🙏. Hope we hear good news
