So i took the plugs out of my car when I was doing a compression test and then started the timing only to have to stop at the powersteering pump removal due to harsh weather. I decided to have a shop do my timing but before I was going to send the car off i was going to put the old spark plugs back in. I went to put the plug in cyl. 1 and it bent the tip up when I put it in. What would cause it to all of the sudden bend when i never had any problems before? Is it because I cranked the motor some doing the compression test?

I put it in the plug spark plug puller then put it in. I just find it weird that this would happen all of the sudden.

Can you please explain yourself a little bit more.

Why were you doing a compression test if you don't mind me asking?

I'm wondering what you actually did. A compression test is as simple as disconnecting the spark plug cable or coil. Remove spark plug and install the correct compression test hose and gauge. Disengage the fuel pump. Start cranking and you have your results after a few cycles. Lets keep in mind I didn't get all technical but that's the gist of it.

Your mentioned removing the pump, So your saying you were going to do a timing belt and deciding on having a shop complete the work?

As for the plugs...Your putting the same ones back on and not saying you put an old set correct? Did you get any resistance when installing it back on? What position is the piston in with plug removed? Do you see any contact marks on the face of the piston?
