My 2g recently started running really rich, and I have no idea where to start diagnosing the problem. I have no cat on my exhaust but it wasn't doing this before. I know it's running rich because the idle is really low, and when driving it blows black smoke and backfires constantly when letting off the throttle. Any input is appreciated.

So I went ahead and finally installed my aftermarket boost gauge and it shows that I'm my 10 pounds of vaccum at idle and when I Rev the car up to around 4 grand I go to 0 boost pressure, I rebuilt my turbo about 6 months ago, do I just need to go ahead and get a new one? I know it was stupid of me to not check the factory boost gauge to see if it was moving at all, but I got used to the factory one being a pile of crap.

Turbos don’t build pressure in neutral or revving. That’s normal. A vacuum of 10 with your mods would still indicate a boost leak. I would suspect a normal vacuum of 15+.

Thanks, got scared for a second. Hasn't really moved much for the past 6 months because I've been working on it in my spare time
