Hi everybody i am so sad, just like a panda:cry: well the reason why i am sad is because my 1997 eclipse 420a gs / turbo is running to rich. At least i think it is. Well yesterday morning i had filled up my gas will loving 91 supreme gas. 35 dollars. 3.85 a gallon. that would be 8 to 9 gallons if i am correct. well i was planing on waste that much money for the entire week; i was wrong. I ran the car that day for 50 miles. it says it does 25 to 27 miles per gallon. that will mean that i had wasted about 2 gallons. well i was wrong again. i had wasted more than half of the gas. when i 1st had filled up the tank it was 3/4 full when i got home it was 1/4 full practically it was ready for a stop at a gas station. i don't know what to do. i was thinking it could be cuss i had the turbo practically open headers the down pipe doesn't connect to the exhaust system. but i don't know. they had told me that it was maybe because of the missing link.

does anyone have this problem. i missed one part to tell u guys. i am still breaking in the turbo i don't even step on the gas much. once it hits 3 thousand rpms' i shift. :sosad: can some one out there please help me solve this :dsm:

I think this is what he was trying to say?

Hi everyone, I am so sad because my 1997 eclipse 420a gs / turbo is running to rich. At least Thats what I'm thinking. Yesterday morning I put 9 gallons of gas in my tank. I then drove a total of 50 miles and managed to consume about 6 gallons. From the factory I know we are supposed to get around 25 mpg, but I only got about 8-9mpg OMG. I don't know what to do. I was thinking it could because I am running an open downpipe, but I don't know. Someone told me that it may be because of the missing link. Has anyone else had this problem?

edit: I forgot to mention. I am still breaking in the turbo and I was not driving hard at the time. I was shifting at only about 3000 rpm.

(Thanks for the cliffs, Jake)

Fuel has to go somewhere. You could be:
  • Burning it, which would be evident by carbon fouled plugs, and/or exhaust that will burn your eyes and throat.
  • Leaking it onto the ground, which would be evident by puddles of fuel, or a fuel odor from underneath the vehicle, or the back seat area.

Do you know where it is going?

It is going to the ground b) why?

If its leaking to the ground, chances are you got a loose hose connection on the FMU. Check any part of the fuel line you may have tampered with during the turbo install process.

ok thanks i will update u later on today if thats not the problem thanks again.

I forgot to mention i have still not installed the vortech fuel pressure riser and also i have not installed the fuel pump. will that be the case for this? and i have not installed then ### i am still not boosting.

Does FMU stand for Fuel Management Unit or something else.

Yes

WTF, yet you have installed the turbo with manifold and downpipe right? Do you just leave the wastegate open or something?

BTW: questions like this.

It is going to the ground b) why?.
make people NOT! want to help you. I mean dang child if you see your car leaking fuel on the ground look at where its coming from, don't look at a puddle of fuel on the ground then get on your computer and say " hey guys theres a puddle of fuel on the ground, whys it there? i mean thats just rediculous.

Yes
like i said i have still not installed the FPR or Fuel Pump

i had been told that the dual internal waste gate actuator to leave one of the lines open.

Correction no there is no puddle of fuel on the ground. nothings is leaking.

This thread is completely rediculous, even if we wanted to help, we can't because you don't even know if you see a puddle of fuel or not...who knows what else is wrong or right, or whatever

I'm assuming you are talking about a 95-99 eclipse non turbo which is not listed in the cars that you own on your profile (so update all of that please).

2nd, would you post what is currently done to your 420a (performance related only).

If you are not boosting, then your missing link should not be installed right now.....

If you are preparing to install your items that will allow you to boost please list what is currently done.

If you touched the stock injetors, put them back, and make sure there is an o ring seal around each one.

and have you messed with anything electronic on your car or tried to install anything that had to do with elecetronics on your car?

Holy cow...you should be banned, seriously.

Do you even read what you're posting???

We have standards on this site. We don't ask that you use absolutely perfect English, but make an attempt not to use "internet slang" or blatantly obvious errors. The point of online information forums is to spread information, which is difficult if everyone is using their own set of grammatical rules. If you don't like the rules, don't post.
