im in the process of putting my engine back together and just wanted to know if i should use rtv on all gaskets?

no! please dont this is not right, where did you get this info from?!

what gaskets?? you should follow a manual, as they call for proper sealant application if required and what not. but:

there are different type of gaskets and they all have different types of applications.

the solid gaskets need to be applied in a clean and dry surface. they create the seal by applying the proper torque and proper torque pattern.

rubber gaskets are applied by either coolant, gas , or oil to "lubricate" and aid the seal depending where it belongs

air/throttle body gaskets needs nothing but proper torque, too hard and you will damage the gasket and create a leak.

RTV gaskets are applied usually around oil pans on some cars and they require a specific girth and torque pattern, with a settling time before full spec torque

Please, find a manual or all the work you will do will go right to the garbage.

I have always run blue rtv on the thermostat housing gasket, and the water pump gasket, and throw away your oil pan gasket and just use grey rtv following the procedure that is in your mitsu service manual. You might also want to apply grey rtv on the half moon seals that go in with your valve cover gasket (your mitsu service manual also gives you the procedure for this). Nothing else I can think of

I normally spray all paper engine gaskets with copper spray or high tack. It makes assembly much easier many times because the gasket stays put instead of sliding out the side like it does with RTV in a tube.

the copper spray, which is high tack application is for gaskets that see high tempetures, it creates a thermal transporter, that passes heat to the next component instead of soaking the heat and burning to prevent your gasket from failing prematurely. the permatex brand sells it, its expensive but its definetly good stuff.

it should only be used for head gaskets, turbo gaskets and exhaust gaskets though. otherwise if used in other places is like buying premium fuel for a 420a, just a waste of money.

Depends on which gaskets. You don't put RTV on every single gasket you can, as different ones face different circumstances.
