ok so im done with me build. so now i have to break it in. ive read some info on dsmtuner. but before i do that what do you guys thing about Royal Purple break in oil. and how do i use it. do i just put the oil in and let it sit there. or do i give it a drive with the break in oil. any one who has used Royal Purple breaking oil please help.

I wouldn't use synthetic for break in. I would go with just regular ass havoline 10w-30 for break in and after break in change in some royal purple.

I use this method. 100-500-1000 -regular time.

first 100 miles, cheap-o no name brand oil.
500miles- specialty oil (Royal Purple)
1000- Full synthetic. I'm a Rotella user now, but that's a whole different issue.

Break in oil is for break in purposes... You figure it out.

I used cheap-o conventional 10W-30 oil, changed it at 100 miles and 500 miles and switched to full synthetic at 1,000 miles. For the first 1,000 miles I kept it under 4000 RPMs and out of the boost as much as possible. Everything worked great!

Hope this helps!

i was thinking of using the royal purple breaking oil and drive it around for 200 miles, normal driving and come home and change the oil to the 10w-30 royal purple

No need to spend the extra money on it. Just use cheap oil, change it out after 100 mi, and then after 500 mi switch to royal purple 10w30.

I use conventional 10w30 oil and a spend some extra money on a quality oil filter. Cruise around varying the load, rpm, and speeds not passing 4k decelerating/braking in gear never in neutral for about 30-40 city driving only miles check for leaks change oil. Same driving again but with more load, rpm, and speed for another 30-40 city/stop and go miles. Change oil and filter again put on lead shoes and go all out a few times listen for anything unusual check for leaks. I switch over to synthetic in about 500 miles. Motor ran just fine for about 60k until it was sold.

I use walmart oil for breakin. I do 3 changes in the first 50 miles, then go to a good non synthetic for 500. The RP breakin oil is more for flat-tappet v8 engines where the cam and lifter have to break in.
