Rough Idle?

Hey I just got myself a 92 eclipse gsx and it has a smoked turbo that is still running full boost, but my main problem is that its running really rough at idle... like its wanting to die on me unless i keep it out of idle... on the road it is running great its just the idle. The ecu has just been replaced thinking this could have been the problem, any ideas? Thanks

Try maybe adjusting the BISS screw on your throttle body, out=higher idle RPM.

Go to vfaq.com and follow the instructions to test your ISC, adjusting the biss screw could just be a band-aid to fix a problem, however it's possible that the biss screw was just adjusted wrong, but I would check out the ISC and do a boost leak test to be sure. If you're not recircing your BOV it will also have a rough idle, so check out those couple areas then adjust the biss screw if nothing else is bad. Good luck

i had the same prob. but after getting dsmlink. that fixed all my problems. haha look into it

had the same prob- turned out to be a vacuum leak, so i fixed that, and then got another leak that turned out to be the intake manifold gasket- replaced it and that fixed all my problems.

Yeah do a boost leak test. There is prob a leak somewhere this is always a good thing to do once getting a dsm.

If you haven't already, check the spark plugs and wires. Get some injector cleaner as well, it could help if this is a car you aren't familiar with.

for sure do a boost leak test, mine had the same problem. the car was running really really bad but when i fixed the boost leak all problems such as too much gas,idle jumping up and down were fixed along with the leak.

idle srew, boost leak, check your plugs and wires. if its not that take it to someone who knows more.

what are a list of problem areas because i'm having the same problem but i did the boost leak test and theres a small hiss inside the intake it seems. i tried to feel for leaks but there was no air coming from anywhere.is there another way to trace the leak

While doing a boost leak test put soapy water over the area you think there is a leak. You will then be able to see where the leak is coming from. Good Luck
