2G Rotors won’t fit over e brake

Hello

So I’m in the process of installing new brakes in the rear on an awd 2g. I’ve rebuilt the parking brakes (all new) and was able to get new Mitsubishi dust shields. In addition to this I’m going to be running the evo calipers, I did have to modify the dust shields to fit.

The issue I’m having is I can’t get the rotors over the parking brake shoes. I’ve got them set to the loosest setting at the parking brake handle and with the adjustment on the parking brake itself and I still can’t get the rotors over. It’s very close but I’m wondering if anyone has any advice or an adjustment I’m missing.

Those brake rotors do not fit your car... Looking at the EBC 2K-EBC-GD996 the hub is way too small. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/EBC-GD996

Ah crap. When I ordered them it said for a 2g dsm, do they maybe fit the non awd version, would that be why?

there's at least 2 size "drums" for disc brakes, search by part number, not by "fitment" I'm more than happy to give right part number but just let me know year and trim or vin number would be better, specially on -95 there was 2 different sizes if I remember right

Still when you're purchasing them make sure that drum size matches your brake shoes

Also before you go ahead and buy another set, have you screwed the adjustment all the way in and centered it? Also measure drum size and shoes what you have now

Wasn't the 95 the year that had both vented and non-vented solid rear rotors.
MB895200 looks to be the solid non-vented version.

That is correct

Vented is MB895202

So, if you have a very early 95 you might have the more massive vented rotor like was used on the 3000GT/Stealth.

if you have 06/1194 - 12/1994 model, then I think your best shot is to cross fit the part number or just measure the disc and get the closest one or just put newer model brakes on it because those brakes are discontinued as far as I know

measure your rotor drum and width of brake shoes

I don't know what more I can tell you. The website shows that those rotors do not fit your car. If you're trying to pull off a Jonny Cash, then it will be trial and error.

So I was lucky enough to try a stock rotor and I’m having the same issue. It won’t fit over the parking brake shoes. It’s not the depth but the parking brakes are catching on the inside of the rotor.

Any suggestions to compress them?

Looks like they're fully compressed. So it's either the shoes, the rotors, or both. Do you have the old shoes still?

Old shoes were just bare metal. Rotors I have an oem brand new one and the evo one here for the rear brembos. Both won’t fit over the shoe.

All new parts were purchased are labelled for a 2g dsm. The parking brake hardware kit is from stoptech. Did I do the rebuild wrong ?

It doesn't look like you have the adjuster installed correctly or the upper springs on in the right order. The adjuster fits so that the slots are vertical and that will pull the lower edges of the shows in.

Good eye. You're absolutely right, the adjuster looks to be in the wrong spot.

The adjuster needs to be tight up against the lower spring. The spring serves a dual purpose and locks it in place.

Flipping it now which seems to have brought it in a fair bit. Did the top springs look ok I. That photo I posted?
