For the tuning experts out there. I need help tuning the car a bit. I have a 2g talon AWD and i can't seem to get a decent amount of timing above 17 psi. here are my mods
EVO 16g ported with 34mm flapper. 2.5 inch dp, 3 in exhaust. RC 550, walbro 190, mbc set at 17 psi (trying to get to 18 psi), tuning with EGT and SAFC. and all the basic mods

here's my most recent log
RPM timing 02
3232 15 .86
3716 7 .92
4240 7 .92
4520 5 .92
4992 6 .94
5224 5 .94
5852 9 .96
6028 11 .96
6552 13 .98
6992 14 .96
7244 15 .96

sorry about the long post... last logs before this, the only times i could get 17+ timing above 6K rpms is when the o2's read .98...
arrggghhh.. help from pros would be great... otherwise..looks like i'm getting that second job to have money for a dyno :(

here's my most recent log
RPM timing 02
3232 15 .86
3716 7 .92 - .92 is a little low, shoot for .94, initial dip to 7 is ok
4240 7 .92 - .92 a little low, timing not advancing, not good 500rpm is a long time for your next data point, fix your samples per sec so you're getting 17-18 samples per second
4520 5 .92 - Bad, timing drops, o2 still low
4992 6 .94 - o2's getting better, timing starts to increase
5224 5 .94 - o2's seem find but you lose timing again, not good. By this point you should be at 12 or 13 degress
5852 9 .96 - starting to richen up, and timing responds very well.
6028 11 .96 - timing advancing
6552 13 .98 - A little too rich, lean it out a little up top with the safc
6992 14 .96 - Lean 1 or 2 percent
7244 15 .96 - Lean 1 or 2 percent

What are your safc settings fo the hi? It seems like you are lean from 3-5000rpm, and a little rich up top. What are egt's doing? Do you still have the stock sidemount? What octane gas your running?

Remember.. Leaning the car out (less air measured by the ECU) will land you on better timing maps..right?? Just don't turn your boost up at the same time or you'll defeat the timing you get because knock will most likley set in if you add more boost upon leaning it out.

Find a balance.

Lean it out up top a bit and see what you get.
STock SMIC isn't helping any if thats the case, Sounds like your under intercooled and to rich.

thanx for the reply guys. I forgot to mention i do have a Griffin FMIC from RRE. My settings are kinda on the leaner side for 3k to 5K, let me do adjustments. Also, dyno time is coming. Guys from Easystreet (WRX tuners) have a AWD dyno inhouse. 150 per hour for the use of the dyno.. not bad i thought. thanx for the response guys. glad to see dsm'ers get lots of support.
