So i am in the process of doing my 6 bolt swap and I took the valve cover off the 6 bolt head and found one of the roller rockers on the intake side was just lying in the head. I put it back in and checked the valves and they seem to be fine, I will try the water test when I get home but what do you guys think. Also I pulled the head off and found that they had two head gaskets on there???

measure the head thickness. the head may be mill past spec and the 2hg may have been installed to lower ang restore the head to proper hieght.

if the vave does not leak when you fluid test then you should be fine

Rockers fly off if people use the revlimiter as a studder and launch with it. Also, if you have cracked valve guides, the valves will hang open or won't slide fast enough and the rocker will go flying. . . Just finished figuring that out yesterday with one of my heads :(

new thickness on the head is 5.200 measured from the VC rail to the head gasket surface

Mitsu allows a combined total of .008 to be removed from the block and head..

AERA allows for .015 from the head giving a min thickness of 5.185

some people will try to stack HG when the head is excessive warped, insted of having the head fixed properly

Like BogusSVO said they may have used two head gaskets because the head was milled below spec and they had to bring it back up to the proper height.

So If I measure it and its less than 5.185 then does it mean I have to get a new head?

So when the head was still on I turned the crank and it felt like the compression wasn't good, it felt like it spun a little to freely??

no.. you just will need a thicker HG or a head saver shim

or if you can tune well, you can just run the higer comp...

But you do need to check the head for flat, and check the surface.

since you have the head off you may want to do this mod...

its simple addition.....

if the head is 5.180 that means the head is .020 thin
the compressed thickness of a OE head gasket is .038 (I am guessing here, I am sure someone will know what the true compressed thickness is.)

so add .020 + .038 =.058 so a .060 HG will work

I do not know what the compressed thickess is on the DSM gasket

if your close to a 5.185 a stock gasket should still be fine... if your around 5.170 you will deff need a thicker gasket

what is the head thickness? post that first and we will figure out what HG you will need
