Alright, weeks ago I posted a thread on here waiting for a response but now luck. The thread was ROD KNOCK CONFIRMATION, no response at all I actually expected help but I resolved it myself by doing more and more research.
I do have rod knock sad to say this is my first rod knock and my first DSM. I never really done rebuilds that includes the block, I've done Head work, engine swaps simple transmission swaps/work and i can go on and on. Safe to say I'm clueless when it comes to bottom end work.
The knocking sound appeared out of no where once i started the car after work I popped the hood, my stupid self was standing on the edge of the curve where i parked since i parked too close to the curve in the first place. As i was opening the hood i reached for the stick to hold the hood and tried to put it in its place to hold the hood, I failed to do so it fell and i reached for it. Trying to grab it with my left hand and holding the hood up with my right hand i slipped forward and switched hands so my left hand was holding the hood and i put my right hand down towards the engine bay to hold myself up and ended up....
I landed my hand towards the belts, my hand got caught and it happened so quick that i managed to pull my hand free due to some gloves i was wearing but at thew moment painless I slowly fell into shock...
Broke both finger cut them up pretty bad too, my middle fingers nail came off follow by some tissue and exposed my finger bone to the air. I never felt the pain before. They took my other finger nail off since there was a deep cut where the base of the nail sits and grows from.
My point is, I cannot work on my DSM for about 2 months. I've got to the point that I'm so stressed out i can't help it and posted my car up for sale on craigslist for 2250, then 2000 now 1500 and now i got to the point 1000. Just enough so i can jump back to the Honda scene and buy a 90-93 accord. I then stopped and slapped some sense to myself as in "why would I drop +$2000.00 on a E316G setup and just give up".
I need help, advice anything that can lead me to a successful rebuild. I've done plenty of search and find but not luck just a lot of misguided information that put me to the place I'am now. I'm thinking of buying the following parts heres a list.
New Cast Iron Crank Shaft with Rod bearings,
A set of new Rods,
a complete head Gasket kit,
Is the job hard? Is there more specific things I should watch out for beside damage on the head and metal shavings?....
Please just help me guys i don't want to buy a new DSM and sure hell don't wanna buy another honda accord.
