Okay, here we go. My engine recently developed rod knock. It started when I first started up the car and the bearings were dry. I shut it off and haven't driven it since then. I'm hoping that, since it was running that long that the crank didn't get damaged and I'll roll new bearings into it.
Here's my dilemma. I have the oil pan off and saw wear the number three rod is black from the shaved bearing. I pulled the cap on it and now I'm trying to get the bearing off. It's stuck. Best case scenario is that its the capillary action of the oil holding it to the crank. Worst case scenario is that the heat from the engine fused the two bearings together (I dont think this is the case as oil still seeps through the joint in the bearings a little bit) Anyone have any good suggestions as to how I can get the bearing off without damaging the crank?
