Well, yesterday I started getting some unusual ticking noises as I was driving home. First thing that came to mind, was my new wheels I put on were rubbing against the fender liner... but it wasn't that.

I'm really hoping it's a collapsed lifter, but I don't really know.

Here's whats going on, the car idles fine, I have a stable 12 psi (aftermarker oil gauge) at idle.

There is NO knocking at idle, only when I rev it to past i'd say 2500?

DSMLink on the other hand reads 12 counts of knock after 3k...
YouTube - lifters still?
Kind of sounds like that...
What's weird is, the knocking doesn't happen until like 2500 and then goes away after like 4500... before I hit the 2 step..

I held a screwdriver to the valve cover, it kinda of sounds like its coming from topend, but also near the intake manifold...
Anyone have some advice??

Yeah. The video sounds like rod knock. The reason it goes away, or not at idle is because your bearings work off of oil pressure, and when you drive you build pressure, where as at idle there isn't as much. My old 6bolt would knock at 2200-3500 if you reved it or held it constant. at WOT or idle there wouldn't be anything. To see how bad the knock really is, stick your head out the window...or drive next to a wall and hold the throttle to a steady (very steady) acceleration. If it knocks...its terrible and its worse than finding out your sterile. Good luck man.

i think your gonna be rebuilding a engine very soon

So I dropped the oilpan... oddly enough everything looks to be in good shape... no shaving what so ever... the only thing that caught my attention was

rod 4,3,2 wiggle ever so slightly while rod 1 doesn't budge. Is this the cause of the knocking?? The bearings look to be in good shape too... I can snap a picture tomorrow if needed.
Crankshaft looks unscratched....
Anyone else have any ideas?

since you are there i would look at the main bearings too. you might be n\having some crank endplay issues so i would check the thrust washers. HTH does it still have the balance shafts?

I'll do that today and take pictures of everything. And yes it does still have the balance shafts.
