How do I determine if a lifter has collapsed. Im getting ready to pull them out and im not sure how to tell if it has collapsed? Or is it just that it will be collapsed and have no tension to it whatsoever?

I'm sure the right way is out of the head...however...a quick check is..

With the valvecover off, you can just push on the end of the rocker where it sits on the lifter. Any that feel squishy are suspect.

Make sure to turn the engine over so you can check them all. When the cam lobe is pushing down on the rocker, it makes impossible to check that lifter.
