1G ROAD RACING: Strange ideas for this winter's rebuild

AAh, didn't see that. Where are you guys currently or planning to hook up the chin spoiler struts to? I don't have anything up front other than the actual core support to tie off to. These little 10" struts aren't going to make it back there to that thing and provide any stability at all from what I can see.

Longacre makes them in a variety of lengths.

Thanks Greg, at 3am i wouldn't have figured out the url without your help :coy:

I ordered up one of their free catalogs, hopefully it has more than the online one. They only listed a strut with a max length of 6", i'm needing closer to a foot foot and a half as I need to get this thing clear back to the core support in order to have any structural integrity. I'll know the exact dimensions of everything this weekend.

BTW, is there a reason you only run that 3" wide lip around instead of the full depth one like they show in the photo? I'm planning on ataching the rear of the lip to the core support to help keep air flow smooth up front, but if you've come across some sort of weird airflow issue from doing that let me know.

It's called a spoiler brace and 8" is Longacre's largest size. I seen some guys run wire with a turnbuckle attached to the top to adjust the tension. (considerably cheaper) The concern is down force so keeping enough tension to avoid deflection is all that's required.

In actuality my splitter is 9" wide with a 4-1/2" reveal. It's displacing air at the front of the car so I didn't see any necessity in continuing it's length beyond. It also gives me full access under the car with the fascia (body-kit) in-tack. If my car was sitting higher I would have probably used the full length of the splitter piece.
