RNR 3inch 02 Eliminator Turbo Back Exhaust *Review*

Still no exhaust... I hope it gets here soon, and the head that i ordered from a guy got damaged in shipping so i had to send it back to him, the cams were left loose in the box and the gear slapped the rear cam journal and cap, dinged it up and bent the bolts where the cam angle sensor goes. I am wondering if my DSM experience is going to be nice. I have had a beautiful 93 AWD TSi in my garage for 3 months, just waiting for me to get it together. I have a brand new big 16g, EvoIII manifold (just got it yesterday), waiting on the exhaust..still, put NR white face gauges in the car along with phantom boost and EGT gauge. Just want to drive my car. LOL.

might have to stick to my other AWD hobby.

I ordered on Mar. 24, and haven't received a notice of shipment yet (although Ryan has been quite responsive via email when I've asked for updates), so I don't suspect you'd have an exhaust in your hands by May 2 if you ordered today.

The reason that there's a two-week delay is because they actually build your exhaust to order, which takes time, especially when they have a bunch of orders in the pipeline ahead of yours.

Yes, the best way to get ahold of us is through email [email protected]. We are always super busy working on orders, cars, etc. Once you email us we will repond the same day in almost all cases. You can email us at anytime to check the status of your order. Please don't rely on the online status of our web site as it usually isn't current. We are actually going to be taking it down as we don't have time to update daily.

We always have at least 25-30 exhaust orders going at one time(sometimes 40 at one time). We make each order custom when it is ordered. You can bascially order it however you want. So that you get exactly what you want.

We want to get your order done and shipped to you asap. We also try our hardest to live up to our est lead times. Thanks for your patience and understanding guys.

yes it took one full month to arrive. Very much worth it in my opinion. I have yet to see an exhaust to compair to RNR's sound. Very orginal. Ryan is a good guy and will try everything in his power to make you happy.

Have had the exhaust for 2 months and still loving it.

Think about it this way when you are spending $500-$1000 on an turbo back exhaust system that you will have on your car for the next 10 years and maybe even the life of your car. Then you are going to want something that is exactly want you want and 2-4 weeks really isn't long time. We build them to your specs and exactly like you want it.

true. how is the exhaust tone of it? i would prefer a very deep loud tone, sort of like the n1, ive also heard a custom made 3" on a gst with a magnaflow straight thru muffler that sounded nice. is the 3" catback pretty loud?

It wouldnt be that bad and i have been very patient. I have now sent 3 emails and a pm to RNR and you have not responded to me. I wouldnt be so upset about waiting a month if they would have told me that. I ordered mine March 20. The money was taken out of the account on the 26th. I have an email stating that it would be out "this week".
This email was sent to me on 4-14:

Your order will be shipped this week, Thanks again for
your patience as we are super busy, Ryan

I have a voice mail on my phone from the previous week stating the same thing. This is what upsets me. I agree i have heard wonderful things about your products. But dont lead me on. I will leave my email address on here [email protected] so you can get ahold of me and update me on my order. I have to say one thing, that so far my DSM experience really sux. I never had any problems like this when dealing with the 5.0 community for over 10 years. Making me really miss my mustang. Havent even got to drive my car yet. The money shouldnt be taken from my account until the product is ready to be shipped. Makes you seem rather money hungry IMHO. My name is Nathan Lang and I ordered a 3" turbo back for a 93AWD with the stainless muffler.

Look, I am in the same boat you are... with even more of a delay.

You have to understand that you are not dealing with Summit or Jegs that have multiple warehouses around the US. You have to give a "little guy" some slack with these kind of things.

As far as payment, I assume that you payed using paypal.. .I know I did. I am a little irked that the money was deducted imediately, but I think that is paypal works. The larger companies have the system that allows them to bill upon shipment.

I do agree that Ryan could have posted or mentioned on his site that things were delayed. It's a catch. He could have stated so and possibly lost some sales due to impatient people. Instead he decided to wing it. Was that the right thing to do? Eh. At least he has tried to keep up with emails (some more than others) but then again no one is perfect.

Let me ask you, when was the last time you ordered an item for your Mustang that was made to order? Probably never. Mustangs pretty much out number DSM's 10 to 1 in terms of production. Hence the supply.

I must say my RNR hasn't been all cupcakes and fairies, but I can sympathize with what it takes to get these out the door.

No, i gave him the information directly and talked to him directly and he took my credit card information. But it is a good business practice if you are just so back logged to stop taking orders and take care of the people you owe work to, not just keep on taking orders and making more and more customers upset. If he keeps on taking orders then it is only going to get worse. One more thing is these are not custom exhausts. All measurements are identical on all DSMs. Either all FWD's are the same, or all AWD's are the same. He has to have a template that he follows. The only custom thing is if you want the O2 eliminator, SS or the SS muffler. You can determine by the number of orders you have made which is the most popular and make them ahead of time. Custom would be that i bring my car in and he fabricates it for that exact car. My whole complaint is when i ordered it from him he said it would take a week to make and i would have it in 2. He took my money immediately and is still putting me off. I was not talking about Summit and Jegs but we will use them for an example. When i order from them, they tell me if the product is in stock and if it is on back order they dont take the money out until the product is being shipped just incase i can find it somewhere else. I dealt with mom and pop mustang shops, as in i had a race mustang not just a bolt on car. (i.e. keith craft, modern mustang, PA performance, etc...) These are not big warehouses. All i am saying is that if the orders keep on coming in and he accepts them then he gets further behind instead of taking care of his obligations. Ryan seems real cool and i want his product and again am being patient, but am getting more impatient as i see more people placing orders and i am getting put further on hold. But still i see a response on here from him and still no replies concerning my exhaust. I left an email and he can PM me. I was told to email him and have not been pushy about it. But still not a reply since the email quote i posted. Dont want to start problems, i just want my exhaust.

I'm at over a month waiting myself, from an original two-week estimation. I'm cool with that, for now; I'd rather have a job well done and run a little late than have the quality of the product suffer because he had to push my order out the door ahead of schedule. As far as him having the money immediately, I knew that would be the case when I used PayPal to arrange for payment, so I don't get to complain. ;)

I think we can all agree that most of the specialty DSM shops could use some work in the time estimation department; almost none of them carry stock (or minimal amounts) in order to keep costs down, and large batches of orders can throw their whole schedule off if they fabricate their own parts. It's big blasts of orders like it sounds like RnR just got that define how well a shop is going to hold up, though: witness the group buys that pretty much put Spoolinup out of business, because they couldn't meet the demand and didn't keep their customers appraised of where their orders were or what the real lead times were looking like.

Ryan's done exceptionally well in the communication department, on here and via email, which is why I purchased from him in the first place. My second choice was a local shop (Hahn Racecraft); despite them being local and offering a (more convenient, IMHO) two-piece downpipe design, I still went with RnR, because of how responsive they were on here, and from what I'd heard from other customers. I don't suspect I'll be disappointed.

All this being said, I don't think DSMtuners is the place to hash this out; Chris' rules make it pretty clear that we need to take any issues up directly with the vendor, so this is about all I'm going to say on the matter until I have the downpipe and cat in-hand and can offer a review of the work. :thumb:

Well me also, i wont say anything on the board anymore until the product arrives, and hopefully it will be worth the wait. I needed to vent frustration and i will take the fellow DSMers point of view since i am new to the DSMs. But again Ryan if you could update me on my order it would be appreciated. [email protected]

If you need updates on your orders just email us. We are doing everything we possibly can to get your orders out asap. I have repsonded to all emails that we have received here. If you haev any otehr questions just let us know. We are ever expanding and growing at large rates.

We are a smaller shop, but are growing pretty fast and when we get a lot of orders at one time is slows down the progress of orders. We fabricate everyhting here in-house. If you ever have questiosn about your order please just shoot us an email and we will get back to you asap. We want to keep our customers happy and informed. We plan to be around for a long, long, long time and we know how improtant our customers are to us.

Thanx Ryan, i believe you. I will post when i get it and post pics of the work and quality so everyone can see your work.

Hey guys. Just real quick.

I dont want this thread shut down because of Trolls and Bashing of RNR. If you have a complaint with RNR because of their service then please Email them. This Thread is intended for the Independent review of RNR's Exhaust. Once you have the Exhaust in hand then you can Review, not before hand. Lets keep it this way so we all can still chim in on how the exhaust works looks on our cars.

Hey Ryan well heck if you sent it out last week it should be here in the next couple days, i will need the tracking number, send it to [email protected] so my wife can make plans to be here the afternoon it is supposed to arrive. I emailed you also, just in case ya dont get it.

I installed my 3" last week. The sound was nice & deep, without being too loud. Easy install too. The optional tip had only 2 small tack welds holding it on, & it rattled, but I fixed that in minutes. If you can wait, its worth it.

96AWDTSI, I actually took your suggestion on the tip. I appreciate the feedback as we are now welding the tip more. We want the least amount possible for that clean look.

O so now you are welding them better...hehe

Mine doesnt rattle at all. It all still looks great. Just a little complaint, Where the space between the tack welds are holding it on i get some exahust leak. It doesnt really do anything but cause 3 little streaks of black exhaust lines. I clean my car once a week so it doesnt bother me that much. Other than that i still dont have any problems with your exhaust. It is worth the wait so for everyong that is still waiting, just stick in there.

That happened to the tip that Ryan sent me as well-- the place that welded it on just put a couple little spot welds on it and it leaked through the cracks, causing little black streaks. I took it back and had them weld it completely around-- now it's fine.
