Right hand drive

just to let you guys know, ALL DSM's are LHD, all are made in Normal Illinois and shipped to where they need to go. To tell you the truth if you are shipping the car out of the States i'd keep it LHD so you can have the mad tyte USDM feel :thumb:

Well, anything is possible with the right amount of time and money, but that doesnt make it logical. No manufacturer is dumb enough to mass-produce 'kits' for this type of conversion. But if you want to do it anyway, then easiest way would be to find an old EVOIII chassis and use its interior to do the conversion. You can find them on eBay every now and then for about $1000.

I am curently building a all show Eclipse RS and I already have a GST. My main question is are you able to convert a Eclipse to a right hand drive or do I have to fab something up? :dsm:

You're going to have to "fab" something up  . You can punch it out in about an hour.

I like to build things that are diffrent. How many right hand drive Eclipses have you seend? Diffrent is what wins car shows. When I say fab I mean Fiberglass a dash to work then work on the bigger thing like petal placement.

Build a RHD :dsm: GTO. And for the record, I have not seen any RHD DSM's, and neither has anyone here. The amount of time and money would also not be worth winning some car shows IMO.

I say go for it. Like you said different is what wins at car shows, and no matter how many car shows you go to you will never see a RHD Eclipse. If you decide to do it, post pics so we can see how every thing is going.

if you got the time and money and knowledge do it.... when everyone see's the final product with pictures...you'll see how everyone will change their opinions and give you props.

valid point though that you never see it done, it would def win you something....as for the euro versions, i only saw one eclipse overseas, a 1ga, and britain is the only country that is like japan...the rest are left hadn drive, right side of the road like the US, as was the country i was in.

The steering rack can be sourced from a JDM Galant since the Eclipse is built on the same platform. The dash would have to be custom made though.

Has anyone attemped this or know someone who has with success or failure??]

its not going to happen at all. you find a rhd dsm anywhere and you can do it. theres nothing to attempt because theres nothing to work with.-----

I've never even heard of a right hand drive dsm. Correct me if i'm wrong (which i don't think i am) but all dsm's are left hand drive only correct? Since they were all made in the US. I've seen pics of ones imported to japan and they were all left hand too. If this is the case are you going to be fabricating alot of your own stuff since the parts wouldn't be readily available?

if you have the TIME and MONEY then go for it. That would be 100% badass!!.

Like stated in the posts above me, no one has ever done it. To be honest I don't think you'll do it too. So this ultimate mod will stay undone.

Besides getting a leg up at car shows for spending 1000's of dollars on a unique mod with no real benefit.

Why would you want to do this?

To have a one of a kind Dsm until someone else wants to do it i kinda already know how im gonna do it and its not gonna cost as much as i thought it was gonna still a good penny though.... if u guys had time and money would u do it?

Thanks

I did it.

Here's how:

Start Menu > PhotoShop CS > Open pic of car > Edit > flip horizonaly > look at pic

i think that it's a badass idea. i know with my 1G it had most of it already ready for it. The brackets all lined up and everything. You just need a new transaxle , a completely new dashboard, and some other things. Probably need to throw in other mods i know none about (like under the hood stuff).
