ridiculously nubish intake question

K&N is great but any cone filter will be better than the stock box set up because you get more air. A pipe is a pipe IMO as long as it fits and you can recirculate unless your going MAF-T route. I like k&n because of the million mile warrenty and its easy to clean and is durable.

Its really your choice. :thumb:

The site seemed almost biased, so the whole stock is better thing I'm not sure of. They had dyno tests against stock vs no filter claiming you immediately lost power without a filter

The filtration/flow test between the 4 filters seems to follow what people have experienced, and doesn't *seem* biased.

I just took my Apexi power filter off and had a look at the inside for the first time since it was installed (years).

Squeeky clean baby.

I've had that for a while now, but I felt no big difference after the installation. I had no datalogging tools before the swap so I have no proof to say if it's better or worse. No problems with it though. Remember though, that the stock air box does get you cooler air, when compared to the open cone filter in the engine bay. If you do go aftermarket, I suggest you do this to block out hot air: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=194759.
