I like body kits but please why bother sticking a vent scoop on your hood or on the fenders when it doesnt do anything but collect dust, water and other crap which will eventually damage your paint and possibly rust. my $.50...

What does it matter its their car, I never see why people get so bent out shape for what people do to THEIR CAR. Why cant you simply accept the fact that people are different. I mean why does what they like have to satisfy you? Just my $.50

A ricer to me is someone who is into making their car a pinata, adding all the stupid colors, over the top add ons trying to make it flashy to cover up imperfections then beating the hell out of it like a little kid to think they are cool. In reality all they are doing is hiding the pile of shit underneath. But like 98% of dsmers here we prefer the OEM so most of us will tell you is your car and you do whatever pleases your eye not everyone elses

Once you start modding for performance you lose track of what the new cosmetic fads are, I see it more here on tuners than anywhere else. the biggest reason bodykits are so frowned upon is because lets face it, cheap base models do exist. Someone who owns a 420a car is more likely to kit it up due to the fact that performance parts for them are just unreasonable, so why not make it LOOK fast?
Realistically, how many AWD turbo cars on here are kitted up?
now compare that to the 420a equipped and you have your answer. Rice = Cheap.

Not to mention you forget DSM's are cheap cars to begin with and can generally be bought between 1500-5,000 be it a 420a, gs, gsx, gst, etc regardless of trim base model.

2) Your "Rice=Cheap" is by far one of the most illogical conclusions I have ever seen, because if you look back at this thread people have attached different meanings to the word "rice". For, instance some think that putting anything on a car that isnt performance related is "rice" be a $1 part or $10,000 worth of parts and labor.In the latter scenario this would be far from "cheap" or making the person to poor to attain what you believe to be the better option.

3)Taking your term "Rice=Cheap" would mean alot more people would be deemed rice as I've seen turbo people to cheap to buy a real turbo and as such buy ebay turbos, cheap coil-overs, intakes, etc. Or they just cheap out on all sorts of other things in their builds. Some people might get their cars like that and financially can't change them. Some people have bad taste period. Some cars are built for show, some cars are built for speed. Some are built for a bit of both. I guess what you do depends on what your ideas and plans are. If I were messing with underground street racing though, I would imagine those stand out cars lead you to the race and if the fastest cars looked like fnf, they probably have the most money. Car shows seem like they judge based on creativity and how well a car is built/fabricated. Some of those mods will cost you if the sole purpose of your car is straight up speed and getting the fastest possible time but some people just want a mix of both like a car that is quick but looks flashy too. Everyone shouldn't try to make a person feel as if their ideas are wrong. Sadly enough, I heard of body kits before I ever even knew what fnf was. I first heard of that movie in 2007 like what 6 years after it came out.

Btw cutting a stock tip off to replace with a 15 inch exhaust tip is ###. You deserve to be made fun of for that. The bubble bee sound on an import does not sound cool. It is amplified through car tunnels or parking garages so you can hear just how ### your car sounds.

Interesting info and yes you are right about "its your car, do what you want to it" but their is a certain line that defines good mods and straight up I hate the ones that just change their intake and think its a performance car without any serious work done on the engine...smh

my .02 on rice... its like chinese knock-off crap... (probably hence the association with rice a chinese/oriental stereotype food, and ricer is a non racial slur, so its widely accepted)
And we are all familiar with chinese knockoffs (there are exceptions) but generally they are of inferior quality and usually useless, and usually better off without them in the first place.

Rice is a hood vent that was riveted on but doesnt vent the hood. non-rice is a hood vent that vents the engine bay. rice spoiler doesnt create down force, non rice spoiler created a calculated.tested amount of downforce needed to accomplish a goal. etc...

A ricer is kind of like a poser. same look, same attitude, same fail.

Rice is the stuff that looks the part, but isn't. Wings that don't work, body kits that do nothing for aero (or even the wrong things, like air intakes for the center of a dsm hood), stupid levels of camber, rubber bands for tires, fake blow-off valves, carbon fiber wrap, carbon fiber shit added on that does nothing but add weight (like the side "spats" on Evos, wtf is that nonsense?),"carbon fiber" parts that consist of one inconsequential layer of carbon fiber backed by fiberglass and covered in tons of layers of heavy gel coat ... the list goes on and on sadly.

I'm all for style when it's there for style, but when it's there imitating real performance parts but doing nothing but adding dead weight and sometimes even hurting performance, that's where I have issue.

don't forget about the 22s . I agree with this from a race perspective. I will NEVER no matter how show-like my car is, do enormous wheels, the fake bovs, ridiculous camber levels etc but now that wrap ... if you go to shows, some interesting things come out with that

- Nobody ever agrees on what the definition of "rice" really is.

- Everyone is entitled to their own opinion regardless of what the topic is. Some guys like blondes, some brunettes, some readheads....this is no different.
