Ask Me, Virginia
I think I know the answer and it is usually no.

This case is the least extreme of everything that I have seen though.

Put clean head down on clean block. Torqued down head with ARP studs/fasteners in the correct torque sequence and forgot about it all for 3 years. Never ran engine.

Pulled fasteners in reverse torque sequence picked head up. Ready to use head on another block.

You can LOL at me. Just asking. I think It would be over the top (even as compared to my other posts) to reuse that head gasket but just asking.

Thanks again.

No

Sorry. Wasnt meaning to be a dick but just think of the time and effort. If its a daily then felpro it. They are a good gasket.

You didn't come across as one at all. Life is about costs and benefits and so are builds. Clearly, the cost would likely outweigh the benefit. If both are equal, I sometimes feel like having a blast and coming back to boast about what I got away with. I love to come back to the community with new perspectives, and at times like to argue for the benefit of the community. Sometimes I'll scoff at that idea and I'll only throw the best at the build.

I actually said the wrong thing.... *the brand new* at the time head gasket that I put down was actually a Felpro, but hey I think that would be pushing it too far. Just checking in!

Appreciate it.

Man as a farmer I have "had" to do many things. If it were a tractor and I was in a pinch to get my crop in, and I am broke...I'd probably copper coat it and go to the field but its not a old piece of farm equipment so give it a fresh seal. :thumb:

I mean, it was growing weeds until I got it on a concrete slab to work on it. Love the perspective boss.

Its real life stuff. What John Deere dealer??? Hell we coukdn't afford that, we were already broke, but as a kid I never knew it LOL.

Hang it on the wall and remember why you were glad you hung it there! :)

If it had only been sitting a sort while. Then I'd feel fine about it. I've had to do it before, lift the head after torqueing, but as its been sitting compressed for an extended period, it would not be a great idea.

If it were me, I'd grab another felpro gasket, they are cheap peace of mind.

Once a gasket is torqued, its compressed and wont spring back, junk it or use it for torque plate honing.

Great technical reasoning.

Along with all of the others haha.

Makes sense to me.

You knew the answer before you asked :|
