It's about a $100-$200 filter. Disposable ones are $10 tops. So (at one or two oil changes per year) it will take from 5 to 20 years before breaking even in costs.

Now, i can see advantages of it for racing where it can be pulled off after every race and inspected for trash or metal bits to determine health of the motor.

you have a point there but I would be willing to buy it to save from oil filters going to land fills plus it has fins on the outer casing to help cool a magnet on the inside to pull metal out of the oil and the screen filter way better then any cheap 10 dollar paper filter.

Well mine are 15 each as there royal purple so a little less time for me, but you say to save land fill but you cant just wash it in the sink

And why not just buy the magnus oil filter

I am referring to less wasted metal in the land fills and all you have to do to clean it is use brake clean and compressed air and I dont know what magnus oil filter you are talking about

Less wastefill? They re use alot of it anyway so not a lot is wasted at all.

And the link is above, I could not add the link as my phone was playing up.

When you was the filter you still have to wash it in a controlled area and not just down the sink as you are not helping the enviroment like your trying to achieve

Every oil filter we took off of an engine at my old job at a scrap yard was vacuum drained and crushed down to be recycled. I'd imagine any place that recycles the filters will need to send them through a similar process. The waste oil is then sent off and recycled as well.

As long as you're doing the responsible thing and dropping them off at an auto parts store that is known to recycle them, there's zero harm in using a $10 filter verses $100 reusable filter. One could could argue that 90% of people wouldn't be able to properly clean the filter without contaminating land, storm drains, etc.

If disposed of properly, filters should be properly drained, punctured, and crushed. Then they are sent to be recycled.

And you can't just spray out those filters with brakeleen... well you CAN... but something like that should be soaked in a parts cleaner to make sure you get all the old congealed oil off the filter element, or else your looking at a clogged filter with new oil.

An easy fix is to buy your filter of choice and have Jiffy Lube do the oil changes for you. They run synth oils also.

Then you know the oil and old filter will be recycled and you don't have to fuss with both items.

They top the oil off if needed if you get low, vacuum your car out, wash your windows, check fluid levels and top off, check air pressure in both main and spare tires ... and the similar...

Been thinking of giving the magnus one a try.. But its not really on the top of my list of things for the CSM

Oh come on, don't use Jiffy Lube if you care about your car. :nono:

Haha jiffy lube. I wonder how many quick lube places actually use the product you request? I have video and picture of a quick lube place here refilling their empty premium oil jugs with their shitty bulk oil. And if they don't have your filter in stock, they reuse your old one and charge for new.

A guy went in for a trans flush, they couldn't hook up the machine, so they pretended and charged him for it.

That's some dedication ^^^. Also probably overkill, but to each his own

I too fall into the new trend of 5k changes, usually run seafoam through every third oil change, so once a year. Last time I had the vc off you couldn't really tell the car had 193k on it, so I'm happy about that.
