Retrofit HID on my stock 2g headlights. Would This Work???

Ok I'm wondering if this would work on my 99 eclipse ok. I like to use my stock headlights and put a lexus Rx330 HID kit into my housing. Would this work ok and also would it hurt the clear cover. If it's kool than I might go for it instead of those cheap hid kit that just plug in. I got time cause my car is park mostly in the garage. Thanx.

I would suggest picking up a set of eBay projectors to swap in the HID projectors as it makes for a cleaner install. I've seen people use the stock headlights, but you need to make a big shroud in order for it to look remotely clean.

As for it hurting the plastic lens, it will not. HIDs burn at way cooler temperatures than halogen. I have HID RX330 bowls with TSX lenses in my headlights and haven't melted anything.

The light output isn't the limiting factor. The reflector design is. HID won't do more to help than SilverStars will, but they'll cost a shitload more.

I assumed he was referring to swapping in the RX330 projectors thereby eliminating the reflector design completely.

Before I switched to ebay projectors I had 2gb stockers (97-99 front end conversion) with Silverstars and it was brighter than stock but not nearly as bright as my current 2gb projectors with my "plug and play" ebay HID kit. I'm planning on doing a retrofit in the future though because the difference is night and day as appose to just a cheap Ebay HID kit with the projectors.

Yes I was going to do the whole retrofit hid from a rx330. like buy the whole projector and bulbs and ballast. yep not the plug in hid.

bingo! if you really must have HID lighting in a reflector type housing, look into the g35 or lexus is300 hid reflectors on Ebay. and gut the stock headlights and replace them with the g35 reflector in the low beam housing. good lucc!
