Hey peeps, i was wondering if anyone has tried a HID retrofit on 1GB.

I'm considering doing one and was looking for suggestions from fellow members who have done this(if anyone), i know it has been done for a 2g.

So if anyone has suggestions or pics, or if anybody knows the best place to get the parts PLEASE by all means let me know.

Thanks

Its not cheap, but check this out(link @ bottom). If you don't wanna shell out that kind of cheddar, you can find just the rectangular housings pretty cheap, like on Ebay or something, and get just a low beam HID kit and do things that way. But if you don't get housings with projectors, your light pattern is most likely gonna suck. Good luck, and hope this helps. :talon:

6054 - 200mm Rectangular Bi-Xenon HID Headlight, 6054 headlamp conversion kit, 6054 sealed beam upgrade, 6054 hid

They are so expensive..............

Well the only thing I can say is that I think someone makes clear lenses for the galant. Somewhere I've seen them. And while still illegal, I'm sure the cutoff is much more defined in those. I know it's a huge difference from composite 1gb lenses to 'euro' 1gb lenses.

yeah they did make clear lenses for the galant. 93 galants came with a clear glass housing and a better designed reflector, both of my galants have a set in them. the cutoff isn't much better but if you have regular halogen bulbs in them you can actually see at night as opposed to barely seeing anything at all.

I didn't quite understand what you said about the halogen bulb. But I could guarantee that the light si not spread everywhere like it is in a composite housing. So there, I'm not gonna say too much about the HID. But in the composites, thats where I have the most grief.

yeah i didn't finish what i was saying to well.... what i meant is that in a comparison with regular halogen bulbs in a set of clear glass 93 headlights you can actually see opposed to not seeing with the original headlights from a 93 and under galant.
