Hey peeps, i was wondering if anyone has tried a HID retrofit on 1GB.

I'm considering doing one and was looking for suggestions from fellow members who have done this(if anyone), i know it has been done for a 2g.

So if anyone has suggestions or pics, or if anybody knows the best place to get the parts PLEASE by all means let me know.

Thanks

Its not cheap, but check this out(link @ bottom). If you don't wanna shell out that kind of cheddar, you can find just the rectangular housings pretty cheap, like on Ebay or something, and get just a low beam HID kit and do things that way. But if you don't get housings with projectors, your light pattern is most likely gonna suck. Good luck, and hope this helps. :talon:

Thanx psitsi, it was helpful but wow thats a lot of money, i think i'll check out the the ebay packages that include the projector form a tsx or the packages from hid planet, the hard part is hacking my stock headlamps. But i guess the end result will be worth it ROFL

Thanks again

Any other suggestions are welcome.

i have a $100 6000k kit in my gvr4 and i love it. it does have a shity beam pattern (ther is light everywhere and not cut off at all) but i don't car to much, i can still see well.

Yes it does look more for the 1ga. Thus the reason why i was asking on how to install them. Does anybody know who makes a proper hid kit for the 1gb that does not require hacking it and what not?? I really need better visibility on rainy nights.
Sorry, I'm not trying to hijack the thread. Just asking for any info on HID for 1gb and better visibility bulbs, since thats what the opener owns.

thanks

jorge.

I was looking into this as well, but unfortunately there is no retrofit that doesn't require hacking. I'm going to try the retrofit as soon as I get an extra set of headlights. I'm planning on the 92 front end swap.

Not true.. Switch to an h4 conversion and run h4 hids.. I have sold many of them and install many hids on 1ga's.

Well while you don't care, others driving towards you do. One, it's illegal to throw in HID's into a halogen housing w/o doing a projector retrofit. Two, that 'sh*tty' pattern is blinding oncoming drivers. And you know why pattern is crappy? Those lenses on your headlights were not designed for HID. :notgood:

im quite aware that the housing wasnt designed for the longer hid bulb. and i know it for sure blinds other poeple driving on the other side of the road but im cheap and nieve. nor does anyone make a set of hid headlights for a galant and yes ther are guys who do take tsx projectors and put them in 93 galant headlights but then that 1 guy who makes them and sells them wants 400 plus for them. its not like it matters all that much my galant is never up and running anyways....ROFL but as of right now im getting ready to go back to school and then afterwards when im ready to finish the car with an actual job i will then buy a set of the hid projector headlights that guy sells. or maybe ill leave the car the way it is and drive out to utah and piss you off ROFL

Look, if you're cheap and naive, then grow up and learn. I'm not trying to start a pissing war, but seriously driving with HID's inside composite lenses is DANGEROUS. I'm sorry it probably upsets you that someone's calling you out on that one, but last year I was driving the back roads when some moron with a set up like yours drove past me on a 2 lane road. Wouldn't have been that bad except after I passed him, I couldn't see the deer in front of me because I was temporarily blinded. So drive it out here, I don't care. Just hope you don't experience what I did.:notgood:

It's illegal to modify headlights period.

I just want better visibility on rainy nights and I am very concerned about drivers who on my opposite side. Since I know how it feels to be blinded by those people that don't do the HID retrofit correctly. I don't care if I have to pay like 1000 bucks to do it. I just want clear and nice visibility at on rainy nights and I also care for others on the road.
I could care less for the looks that these HID lights give. I only care for a perfect non blinding light for my 1gb.
Any information from anybody is greatly welcome.

thank you.

jorge.

Hey peeps. Just wanted to drop my 2 cents as i have completed a retrofit myself(1gb
talon). For all parts it was like $500 total. Search in ebay and you can find Honda TSX
projectors for about $180 the pair. And you can choose to purchase a NEW D2S HID kit(
8000K is the recommended, plus it looks very very nice with projector lighting) for about
$180 or $200 depending on brand. Also you may look around for a used TSX setup which
includes ballasts, bulbs and igniter. The downside of this is that because you're buying
used you won't know that what you buy is in good working order till you receive it. Mine
crapped out at like 1000 miles, so i bought some caddy ones which are still working.

The rest is doing the work yourself whicho is not hard at all, let me know and i can help.

Hope i was a little helpful. :thumb:

well all together i was actually kidding, i really didn't care about the negative feedback on my setup and i was expecting someone like you to jump on me like you did so i had it coming. idk where i live it every other car you see on the road had hids in a non projector housing and you kinda just get use to looking away from the light(which is pretty hard since itS EVERYWHERE) sorry for the bad experience cause of some tard like me, i had not idea you 1g had a near death experience.

Do a write-up.

Well the only thing I can say is that I think someone makes clear lenses for the galant. Somewhere I've seen them. And while still illegal, I'm sure the cutoff is much more defined in those. I know it's a huge difference from composite 1gb lenses to 'euro' 1gb lenses.
