[RESOLVED] Quick timing question

With the marks lined up on the cams, the notch on my crank pulley should be at tdc on the timing tab correct? If mine points to approx 5* retarded my timing belt is either off a tooth or my crank pulley spun slightly correct? The car runs with the timing set a 5* btdc but when i rev the motor it wants to die when the throttle is released. ( wont idle after a rev) the car starts right back up when turned over no problem. Please give advice.

I figure my belt is either off 1 tooth or the pulley is slipped and my base timing is actually set at 10*(5 shown on the timing light plus the pulley slipping by 5)

You want the mark to be aligned with the T on the cover.

If your crank sprocket mark line up with the timing mark on the front case, then you probably have a spun dampener. If they don't line up, then you'll need to redo the timing.

Resolved- Timing belt off my one tooth. Man im starting to wonder about the guy that put this motor together. The main reason i bought it was because of the "new motor"
