[RESOLVED] priming the engine using a drill on the oil pump sprocket

I searched around and haven't found the exact procedure for priming the engine using a drill on the oil pump sprocket. I just did a b.s. elimination and packed the oil pump with petroleum jelly.
I've got the engine on the stand and it's all going back together but I haven't put the timing belt on. Do I pour some oil in there, spin the oil pump, and wait until I see it at the top of the head? I've got a 90 OFH, won't oil go everywhere? Just looking for some guidance.

Well, you answered your own question. Pour the oil in and spin the sprocket, you will see oil starting to squirt out at the top of the head.

Since you have the 90 OFH, you could try doing it this way instead, or just install the oil cooler temporarily.

If you have -an fittings and s.s. lines for your oil filter housing to your oil cooler you can just get caps for them.
