[RESOLVED] Missing error code

How often is this misfire? It generaly must have 2 consecutive misfires, because the first misfire wont set the CEL off, it will set the ECU to monitor systems, and if it doesnt misfire again it will reset, then do the same thing the next misfire. But if it misfires twice in close timing then it will set the CEL...its a precaution so that small little things that happen once don't send people to the dealership because their CEL is on.

This could be your problem...which isnt actually a problem, because you know the misfire is occuring your just wondering why the idiot CEL light is not going ON.

It misfired more than once in a row many times, but never turned on the check engine light.
I fixed the problem with different spark plugs. I never had a defective NGK after only 1000 miles until now. It seems strange that a bad plug didn't set off an error code. I even switched
out the ECU before the plugs and neither one gave an error code for the ignition system or anything else. Thanks for the help anyway.
