Ok before you go hating I just need some help REALLY bad, I was doing a motor build in my buddies EVO MR and hit a major snag. I got the motor mostly out but the throw out bearing is trapped via a lock ring. With a little persuasion i thought it might separate but I screwed up the lock ring (wich I didnt remove) and now Im trying to get the ring off of the output shaft with it all screwed up. Has anyone else done this and how did you get it off?

Snap ring pliers? How does the FSM tell you to do it? Also, this is called the return clip.

It should just come right off.

Naw, snap ring pliers are not going to work and welcome to the hell of evo clutches.
It's a pull style clutch and the throw out bearing is held in with a marcel spring contraption(?). I don't know what condition yours is in, but that's the key. Compress the wavey spring with a pry bar, get a long screwdriver between it and the ring, and give the screwdriver a good twist.

I was trying the whole pry thing and either i screwed the ring up or the guy that put the clutch in it 8 months ago did, do you guys have any ideas on how to remove it with the ring screwed up. The only thing I can come up with is try to unbolt the pressure plate, wich I think I can do but major pain in the ass, you guys had any problems like this?? And if you did howd you get the dam thing separated???? Thanks for the help

Ok fixed it, Just unbolted the pressure plate and motor came out. Now I can see what I need to do to get the clutch off. Thanks
