Allright guys hear me out. When I did the six bolt conversion the car was venting to the atmosphere. So I know from searching its not a good thing to vent but I have a real nice bov and from spending all the money on the build and swap I just left it cause no money to get another bov. my mechanic tells me also it want hurt nothing realy becausse its a automatic and i will not loose boost while shifting. Well my car idles poorly an I dont think it runs right, so I can trade him my bov for a 1g bov but he says not to worry about the bov so What Is Up . And i am wondering if it has anything with my car not boosting? I took the mbc off when I swapted and have its running stock at the ECU while I break it in. It has 1,311 miles on it now should I put on the mbc? I dont get more than about 6psi.( Sorry so long!) THANKS!

ok,,, having an auto has nothing to do with it... your mechanic is dumb. if your still using the stock 2g bov then trash it and get a 1g. if nto the bov is not the problem.

the only thing an auto would have anything to do with, is if u ran NO BOV, which is still not a good idea on a street car(turbo will prob break eventually). but you could do it with an auto...

Its been said many times that unless you are running the MAFT blow thru setup then you need to recirculate . Your mechanic must not have much knowledge with dsm's. Swap the 1g bov on there and recirculate then your car will run better.

the bov is causing the problem, everything wil be fixed including how much you boost once you get the 1g boc on there and recirculated.

MY car is venting to the atmosphere and it runs fine, i dont have a maf setup. It will make a difference, but as long as there isnt a recirc hose or the hose is clamped shut it should run fine. Check for a boost leak.

From reading all the other posts about BOV's and venting to the atmospehere, in the case of factory turbo'd dsms, it sounds like you have a classic case of what happens when you vent to the atmosphere instead of recirculating (rough idling).

Do a quick search about recirculating your BOV, cause im not sure a wiseman will jump in on this one since it has been covered so much. Im pretty sure like stated above, with the exception of wvturbo2, that unless you have some kind of maf mod your car will have problems idling unless you recirc.

There is also a mech. down here that said he worked on all kinds of dsms for YEARS, with credibility. When I paid him to take a look at my car and "FIX" it, he actually fixed it completely incorrect and I had to pull apart the car and fix myself. I now do all my own work...

What BOV are you currently using? Is it not capable of recirculating, like some of the forges?

Your mbc shouldn't cause idling problems and John says the 1g will work for now because it can be recirculated...

Yhea im sorry just for the record about venting thread cause I did search and found alot , but not what he is saying about it being auto and will not matter. I just know its apex and it has different sized holes on it for i guess the sound level So im not sure if i can use it to recirculate or not.

You can vent if you want to even though its like taboo here on these forums, if you like the sound and spent the money on a bov that doesnt recir then just vent it, there are thousands of ppl who do with no problem who dont have maft set up.
Basically when you vent your turbo wont stay spooled as good, you run real rich between shifts ( sometimes enough to backfire, but usually thats caused by other problems as well ) and your car will idle like a dog and may even recieve worse gas milage...
But then again if you like the sound who cares, its all in opinion , and every car is different. Personally Im not going to vent anytime soon, and I want to sell my turbo xs which is for venting only, but I will vent whenever I get my hks super sequential.

What he probably meant by it being automatic was that since you don't have to shift manually, no WHAPASSHII's btwn shifts, your MAF won't even notice that you are venting to the atmosphere. Although, I don't know how true this is because I personally dont own an auto. I mean his logic makes sense, but if it is true is a whole different thing.


In your case, that you don't want crappy idling or gas mileage, you can go with the 1g BOV and recirculate. Especially if your not happy with your idling. The apexi can't recirculate because, just as you said, it has different holes but no spot to connect a dump tube, like the greddy type-s or the 1g bov. The 2g BOV can also recirculate but it's made out of plastic, yuck.

Like everyone says though, it's your call.
