Just like the title says, when I'm in first I can boost to like 14-15 ish but when I go into 2nd and get on it reaches about 11psi and its like I hit a brick wall. Then I go into 3rd and it will boost again to 14-15 ish?

I'm getting a different wastegate actuator cause mine was sticking a little.

could it be my MAF cause sometimes my car idle surges?

I know a BLT is on my top list but what else should I check?

Thanks you guys, I'm learning little by little

haha sorry couldnt resist.

But doesnt make sense because if it was a boost leak he wouldnt be able to get 14-15psi in 3rd and not 2nd. Not saying that theres no leak just saying maybe the wg.

If you have a logger, log your 2nd gear and see what the fuel trim looks like

you know what you guys, I'm really sorry. I just went out and drove the car and it is the REV limiter I am hitting it at 7500G's 1st and 2nd at about 12-13psi. 3rd gear it will do 15psi no problem or maybe even more without hitting the REV limiter

now I'm almost sure it is the wastegate actuator is not closing all the way or it is getting very sticky.

Before I started tinkering with the actuator it was stuck stuck! and after I took it off and pulled on it for a long time and sprayed carb cleaner & oiled it, I would not go over 6psi.

could this be my problem.

Is the WG lever getting stuck or is it the WGA?

Might check if the WG shaft (that goes through from the inside to ouside of the turbine housing) isn't walking out of the housing. The flapper won't cover all of the WG passage when this happens, so you boost slower or can't boost as high. Also, it might start binding up as the assembly moves out of the housing.

If it's the WGA, try picking up a replacement.

If anything was binding, you might have had to set the MBC much lower, and it was taking more boost to "unstick" the WG system. Once you got it unstuck, the lower MBC setting started producing lower boost. But since your WGA is sticking, I'd track down why and make sure you've fixed it more than just temporarily or you could overboost when it starts sticking again.

Its the WGA, cause when I took it of to mess with it I could pull it out a little and it would get stuck in various positions. Also when I had the WGA off I check the WG lever and it moved freely with no resistance.

Thanks for the very helpful info :thumb:

what would you recommend for a logger? Thanks

You have a 1g, so you can get a complete logger setup for a fraction of the cost for a 2g logger. Get a refurbished palm pda off of eBay, build your own interface (cable) and download MMCd or OBDgauge for free. You can also buy the interfaces off of eBay. Must be for a 1g, though. Velocitapaulo has an article somewhere for making your own interface, and the palm-n-stein site has a link to a DIY 1g interface, too. PDAs can be had for very cheap if you look out for a deal. My wife got a PalmIIIxe from a 2nd hand store for $1. The features I'd look for in a PDA are backlite (so you can see it at night) and rechargeable batteries (so you don't lose your logging software every time the batteries die). Color display is nice, but not necessary for logging. I have a PalmIIIc which is color, backlit, and rechargeable battery, but they will typically cost more than B&W models.

And there ya have it.

EDIT: The PalmIIIxe is B&W and no rechargeable battery. But for $5 you make a cable. Then $1 for the PDA. Software is free. So $6 for a 1g logger is a DEAL.

You can go kenamonds way, which of course is the most cost effective way possible. I just bought the kit form OBDlogger.com who had posted an add on ebay. The fact that you have a '90 will most likely mean that you do not have an eprom but that does not matter one bit for the use of a datalogger. Thank you, we have a long way to go with our ride.

thanks you guys and special thanks to cruisintalonawd for hooking me up with a WGA. Its much appreciated :thumb:
