Need some help. I am trying to do the front engine mount first. I got the engine jacked up and I got the bolt that goes through the mount out, but I can't figure out how to get the insert into the mount. The bracket that goes to the engine is in the way. I tried letting the jack under the oil pan down thinking it may sag the whole motor down, thus lowering the bracket and giving me room to put the insert in, but it didn't work. I was under the impression that I would not need to remove the mounts to install these inserts, what am I doing wrong? Thanks

Cmon man, This is simple! :ohdamn:

Support your engine Via oil pan and a BOARD to not dent your pan..
Now unbolt the Crossmember runing from the radiator support to the back of the engine.
Lower it and put in your inserts, then just push it back up and bolt it back on..

Thanks, I just ended up pulling off the mount. I didn't realize it was so easy. Do I used the 2 big washers that came with the kit on the front mount or on the rear?

Washers go on the front MM.
If you dont have the washers i would just go buy them for all of 25 cents and pinch them in between, i have gone through 2 sets on the front. I used the washers the second time around and have had no cracks or separation after a few years of DD.

I feared the rear mount too, but when I actually did it, it wasn't so bad. Like suggested before, use many extensions so that you are able to access the bolts above the intake manifold. The bolt going through the mount was also easy as I was able to brace one end with a wrench against the firewall so it wouldn't spin as I turn the socket wrench from the other. My small hands helped with this one. The hard part for me was physically getting the mount out of the car (I was replacing it) as the shifter cables were in the way.

I have a question regarding the inserts. I plan on using these for my 2g, the front and rear mounts have a few cracks on them, from age. While they were in the car, I felt the engine 'dance' back and forth everytime I gave it gas and let off bacause of this.
Should I replace the mounts before using the inserts or are they good enough keep? The rubber is not completely shot but they are visibly cracked. Im assuming they were about to tear if I had kept the car on the road(Im doing an engine rebuild now).

Thanks guys.
