Hey guys so im about to buy an ACT Heavy Duty Sprung 6-Puck Clutch Kit : Mitsubishi Eclipse 90-99, here is the problem. When i first baught my 2g it had 75k miles with stock clutch around 83,000 it finally went out. I threw in a Comp. Clutch Stage 4 and light flywheel. After 6k miles the throw out bearing busted and ate the clutch alive. Dad lent me money for stock clutch and only stock clutch. Needed my DD what could i say. So now with $103,000 and a FP68HTA bout to be put in i need a new clutch. Should i also replace the Flywheel??? I forgot to ask the mech. but i dont believe they replace the Competition Flywheel. :aha:

I know this is stupid but i work 7 days a week and need my car. I will be replacing clutch over night. So i really dont wanna pull the trans twice if i dont have to.

what brand was the flywheel? I had my ACT cro-moly one turned. If it was my car, I'd either replace it or get it turned; if possible. You always want the surfaces to match. If you use a used flywheel with a new clutch, the old one is worn to the other clutch's surface. So you run the risk of getting an annoying chatter.

Plus, you mentioned you don't want to do things twice, so i think you answered your question. :)

It is a Competition Clutch Light Flywheel with i said alittle over 15,000 miles.

Still to this day it was a waste to pay a local Auto Shop $1,000 to put a stock clutch in it. Competition said the reason for the throw out bearing breaking, was caused by just a "BAD KIT". Never did a think for me.

Ok gotcha. I just read that as the brand of clutch. It looks like it could be turnable to save you a few bucks. The problem with that would be you'd be down the car a day or two, and you said you need it. I saw that it's a $260-something dollar part....which isn't bad. I say snag a new one, then get the old one turned so you have a spare or re-sell it.
