Hey guys I am having a hard time removing my transfer case. I have all 5 bolts out and it has some gap but it feels like something is still holding it in place. We have tried different pry bars and such with no luck. Is there and tricks to getting this out. And homemade trick would be nice to know. The exhaust is moved out of the way and the driveshaft is out of the transfer case.

Use a flat head screwdriver between the Tcase and the trans and pop it with a hammer.

Careful that sucker can be heavy

should just slide off....sometimes you gotta pry at it

Been doing that for the last 4 hours with no luck.

Tired this method with no luck. Almost would have been worth it to take the engine/trans out of the car. Would have been easier.....

You've got to pry on opposite sides (180*) at the same time if at all possible. Just prying in one spot might be causing it to bind up. It is probably just stuck on the output shaft and is being stubborn. Try to get it to come straight out if you can.

Spray some PB Blaster up in the gap on the inputshaft to the transfercase. Splines are just rusty/binding in the transfercase.

Thats what I had to do to get it out on my first AWD. I would pry forever and it would barely move. And yes watch out because when that sucker does come off its gonna surprise you if you have never lifted one before.

well got it off...sorta. The output shaft is welded itself to the transfer case and has ripped out of the transmission. So now I am sitting here with a brand new 23 spline transfer case, a broken 23 spline trans and a good 90 trans with a 22 spline output shaft. So I think its time to sell all my cars and buy my 05-06 gto

Nah ill just get pissed off at it then two days later I will be working on it again. I wanted to hit the last pdx of the year since I have missed them all to not having a running car or one that will not pass tech. So I was kinda disappointed. Also yes I am not married cause I am still in college. Plus the reason I was even thinking of selling at the time was my friend said he would buy it off of me.
