GVR-4 Removing and reusing block dowels

Does anyone reuse their block dowels?

Every method I have used ends up with me distorting the block dowels. I know they are cheap and all that but I'd like to get them out without ripping them and distorting them if possible.

flip them around if you crunch them.

I always spend the couple extra dollars to get new ones. If you've pulled them out to get your block decked, why not. It'll allow the head to slide back on with ease.
