I'm building myself a motor and for some reason I cant figure out how to get the oil pump sprocket off. I even had to refer to my hanes manual. It told me to use a special tool but last time i checked i didnt have a tool called m83957629 (<---random numbers) It looks like the threads on the inside of the sprocket are stripped bad. I dont mind getting a new one but i want to get my cleaned and machine but i cant get the oil pump off. Thanks for the help again guys!

the number of that tool that you wrote about is like the part number for any part on your car. you should be able to find out what it is if you ask the Mitsubishi dealership or just call them . also maybe try a part store. itll probably be a puller. anyways thats what i think.

hanes manual mentioned a crazy number like that for my 01 eclipse and it was a tool number.

hope it helps

Go to autozone,

Buy a tool that has a chain attached to vice grips, its used to hold pulley's sprockets in place while getting off bolts/nuts

Lol, okay fellas, check to see what car we are dealing with here. The OP even told you.

OP you will need a steering wheel hub puller. Kinda a common puller that a lot of people have. Not too expensive.It looks like this;

Or you can do what some of the Neon guys do. Just break it off, using a chisel, and get a new one. Less than $20 but kinda Mickey Mouse to me.
