Resolved 420A Oil Pump

I'm almost ready to put my motor into my car(99' gs(w/turbo) 420a motor) and was just curious as to whether a new factory oil pump is good enough for a built motor. (remachined crank...wiseco pistons(8.8:1)...eagle rods...etc...) Melling makes the stock pump for the car I'm pretty sure but do they make a better one that I would need or is the stock one ok? Thanks

You will be fine. They are damn near the same thing. You hear people mention "Melling" all the time because, well, how many brands of oil pump have you ever heard of?

So long as you have a new one that you can depend on to supply oil to the engine, you're set. Just remember to prime it before you fire the engine. Some people pack it with lithium grease, some pack it with Vaseline, and some just leave the plugs out and crank the motor over by hand once it's filled with oil to make sure it's ready to go when the engine turns over for that first time.
