Hey there fellas, I've just picked up my first beloved DSM but I found she stumbles under boost. I've combed the forums and talked to buddies and figured its either a boost leak or the cars not happy because my BOV's shooting all that boost out into the atmoshpere. After hunting down boost leaks and hardpiping the charge pipes I'm gonna switch out to recirculating but idk if I can bear to part with the orgasmic pshhhhhh sound. Any ideas on how to keep that nice, crisp sound? Running a GReddy Type RS if that makes a difference. Also the previous owner says its running rich and it eats through gas much faster than I expect it too. Haven't put a wideband on it so idk how bad it is

Just make a metal recirc pipe and it will stay loud :) fix the bov and the car will probably run perfect again. It's rich because of the bov the way it is. Also make your profile and mods list so it's easier for us to help you.

If you are still on MAF then i highly recommend you go back to recirculate to avoid the rich condition. Keep in mind the ecu has already calculated the amount of fuel to put in..If you vent to atmosphere , this will cause the car to run rich and stumble at times. You should be able to still get a nice woosh sound, but at least your car will be running much better. If you have all hard piping and an aluminum intake going to turbo, it will still sound decent.

Replace with ngr bov those knockoffs suck and fall apart after awhile, ask me how I know LOL. I have a hks ssqv on both my gst and gvr4 recirced and love it's sound, still super loud. Got one of mine used on here for $100, just watch for fakes.

Your first priority should be getting your motor running right, which means you must recirculate your BPV. But if you really want the sound, like everyone else says, get a hard intake pipe and intercooler pipe and it'll be louder. After that, it will be louder based on how much boost you are running. Welcome to the DSM game:hellyeah:. Remember, function first and the form will follow.

If your pipe is already flanged for a GReddy type you may as well find something to fit it. Whatever you do, do not use the "spa hose" recirc mod. It will split open. I use a piece of flexible radiator hose.
Yea IDK what its flanged for, the ebay page says "Universal type" LOL so no idea what I can put on there, here's the link

Again totally not my choice for a BOV, guy before me thought it was cool haha

Also is an NGK gonna work with a GReddy flange, the one on the website says it fits both

That's a standard GReddy flange, but I believe a few others may fit it as well. And a hard intake pipe will definitely increase sound and an open filter will help performance. On my Tsi awd I still have the stock intercooler piping with an injen intake and evo bpv and she howls like a banshee!

Same as what everyone else posted - I have an NGR on my Talon and a hard pipe intake, recirculated. I've actually tried a few things to make the sound quieter, as I feel like I'm a little old to have the BOV noises coming from my car. Don't worry, you won't lose the sound if you recirc.

I have the fake greddy type s off of eBay for $30 shipped it works great and sounds exactly like my old greddy type S. The ngr is like $130, and being stock I will probably just buy a real greddy rebuild kit if I ever have boost leak issues

Years ago when I had a real greddy bov it had problems with boost and had a stripped adjustment bolt.

Anyways the upper radiator hose is the same diameter as the blow off valve and intake opening, if needed you can buy a replacement at a parts store and cut it to fit the bov.

With a metal intake pipe and aftermarket intake air filter I had my car louder than the vented cars. The greddy would echo off of the t25 and back out the air intake pipe, and would really exaggerate the blow off whistle

Cx racing intercooler piping $119
Ebay intake pipe $89
Should be just as loud as vented and have a more exaggerated and prolonged whistle
