Is there more than one place to put a BOV? I just bought a 2g and it has that plastic shit where the Greddy BOV is in my friend's GST. I didn't know if it was stock or the guy put aftermarket somewhere else, since I still hear the chirping when I let off the gas. For that matter, I don't even know if stock BOVs make a sound. If the BOV is stock, could anyone recommend any aftermarket BOVs that are good, along with some advantages/disadvantages? Obviously, this is my first DSM and I know nothing about them.

the plastic is the stock uicp and bov.

If no you know nothing about the car why is it you are concerned with the Bov ?

the blow off of air sounds similar whether it be air breaks in a truck or a bov in a car, it all makes the same noise. So yes, it is your bov making the noise, it just might not sound as fancy as the aftermarket ones. A good first mod is to replace the stock bov with a first gen one, as the 2nd gen tend to leak.... goodluck learning
 
You can put the BOV anywhere on the intake tract, but idealy you want it as close to the throttle body as possible. You will need to replace your BOV once you start modding, but I'd get a boost gauge and a few other basic mods before you'll need a new BOV. The cheap way would be to get a 1g BOV. They can hold past 20 psi no problem. Other alternatives are available but are a bit more expensive. To bolt them to your UICP you need an adaptor specifically made for the BOV.
 
This may sound really stupid, i dont know... but at a local shop i always go to they had a FMIC on a civic. And they mounted a BOV to the one end of it, it was weird... never seen anything like it.

Just wondering, you said "Idealy you want the BOV as close to the T/B as possible" Than why not mount it at the end of the T/B elbow? I've never seen it that way. What benefits does that bring? I saw one mounted right next to the I/C core on a 350z.
