2G Rear O2 sensor problem - can I use a front O2 sensor?

I just bought a couple of O2 sensors from a local friend. The problem is, they're both front O2 sensors and the plug for the rear is different. I'm short on time here and need to get this sensor in today. Can I simply cut the plug off and wire a front O2 sensor to the old sensor's plug? Are the two sensors the same otherwise? Will it work?

i know that the ones you have to wire in yourself from advance auto parts are the same for front and back so I would assume that you could just splice it into the back.

I would agree as well, they are both narrow band sensors detecting fuel in the exhaust. By the way, is this for some other vehicle? I wasn't aware the 1g had a rear sensor.

I'd becareful... The rear is a 0-5v and front is 0-1v. At least on a 2g.

I installed my rear sensor to the front location when my front died on the black car, since I already had the rear heater circuit and DTC turned off with the Evo 8 ECU. I cut off the harness plug on the dead sensor and spliced it on the other. Then just screwed the hacked-off sensor into the rear location to plug the hole. Worked fine for me.

Really? I must have messed something up on mine then when I swapped them out 6 months ago.
