I got a automatic with a bad rear motor mount, how exactly is the best way to go about doing this?

I bought a new rear mount, because this one the insert moves around so am I just gonna replace the entire mount.

its really not that hard.. just take the battery tray out and support bracket along with the upper intercooler to manifold piping and youll have all the room in the world. i think that was one of the easier ones when i replaced all 4 of mine.

It's not to bad once everything is outta the way. But that's if the bolts come loose easy. I'm not sure on the auto trans but the manual has two bolts on pass side of mount and 1 bolt on drivers which is easy to get from underneath, and the bolt thru the mount, I think the 3 bolts are 17mm and the 1 thru mount is 14mm. Also a good time to do a fuel filter change since your making the space to do it easier. :)

When I did it recently, I took out the battery, the battery tray, the support brackets, the upper piping, and unhooked the EGR valve. Made it worlds easier. While I had all the stuff removed I went and did an EGR delete and changed the fuel filter.

Just a final note, if your rear mount is bad, I would take a hard look at the rest of the mounts too. I ended up replacing all 4, and the rear one was actually the most intact one (they all were separated)

Thanks for the responses, was wondering if you need to jack the motor up at all during the process with a block of wood to take tension off the mount or not.

Mine is pretty bad got the issue shifting park to gears , gear to park, first hitting the gas it sucks... and taking away a lot of power at the wheel.

So removal of IC upper pipe battery and tray, lift the front end of via 2x jack stands and *block of wood for the pan?* to release tension?

I know with auto the difference with the motor mounts to manual is the bell housing.

Front mount I had replaced when I had my massive oil leak in the timing for the BSE with the one bolt missing so it spewed oil specially with boost...

Yes, jack up the motor with wood blocks to relieve the tension so you can remove the bolt going through the mount.

Thanks hopefully i can do thsi next weekend when i replace the ISC motor since have everything out would make 2 jobs easier, just glad I don't need to mess with the side mounts, just the rear.

Just so I know im correct on this, I do not need to mess with any other mounts right?

No, when I bought my car the guy didn't have the rear mount bolted in. I was doing the polyurethane mount install and was able to replace it without removing the other mounts. Taking the battery tray out will give you enough room to do it along with the intercooler piping ^ what the guys said up there.
