rear caliper upgrade?

okay i need to replace my rear calipers so this isnt a diagnosis, i already know. but is there an upgrade for the rear calipers like the front? i know that on the front ones you can upgrade them to the 3000gt dual piston calipers (possibly same as 93 or 94 awd?) but does anyone know of a caliper upgrade for the rears? other than some extreme aftermarket big brake crap

As far as i know there isn't a direct bolt-on replacement for 1g rear calipers. I would suggest just upgrading the rotors to slotted units, along with a set of ceramic brake pads and stainless steel brake lines. This will make the best of your rear brakes while still retaining your oem calipers.

yeah thats what i was doing when i figured out i was going to need new calipers. thanks for the help. i'll just get new oem ones

Rear brakes on most cars don't do much stopping. They do even less on the hammer-headed chassis of a DSM. Stock brakes are plenty.
A very few early 2Gs got the vented rotors from the Stealth/3KGT. It may have been either a mistake, or a temporary cover for a parts shortage, depending on which fairy tale helps you sleep better. The only difference they make is the confusion in the parts boy when you get new pads.

OR Calipers! I bought a donor car with the vented rears but the calipers were completely rusted out so tried to use them as a cores and buy some rebuilt ones at NAPA. Three sets of brakes later - still could not replace them. Now running my stock gst brakes

I am currently working on adapting the evo brakes to the rear of my 1g awd, but its mostly for looks and isn't cheap either because you can no longer use a cable driven e-brake. Once i have completed them i will post up on my process.
