Real Quick Intake Question...

Hey, its been like 4 years since i installed a K&N in an Eclipse, just curious i ordered a filter and kit from ebay, and the last intake kit i had mounted itself, but all i got was the flange and filter, does the intake just sit in there? Its just gonna bounce around? Is this normal? Just made me think for a minute.

Also, Does the intake kits you see that replace the rubber hose to the turbo really do anything? I see them everywhere!

And i was reading that the K&N Cone filters arent the best becuase they suck in access heat produced from the engine? Is this correct?

I'm sure its better than stock but is there anything else that is better for the GST?

I saw some filter on ebay with a heatshield on the filter to reduce the intake temps..
any words on those??

Yes, the intake will just sit in there, and it might bounce around a bit... if you have your recirc. hose tight it shouldn't bounce all that much.

That's the first I've heard of a K&N sucking in heat.. that's exactly what you don't want to do.. suck in more heat. Hence "cold air intake" idea.

Sure you can get the shield, or make your own blockoff plate. People have recorded lots of difference in intake temps. I myself, don't notice much.. but it's been soo long and the car is modded that I just take everyone's word for it.

Run a strap of steel or aluminum from one of the adapter bolts to the hole where your factory airbox mounted on the inner fender, and bolt it down. It'll be enough additional bracing.

The elephant trunk replacements help a tiny bit. You get more from sawing off the part of the recirc tube that jams down its throat.
