Quick Questions real quick

Im coming near the end of my build and i had a few questions..

1. I'm NOT using a gasket for my oil pan, so how much RTV should i use?
thin layer? or layer the block and the oil pan's gasket area?

2. Oil squirters... i been reading up on everything and i do not remember taking these out when i took my engine out.. i do have the 4g63t.. And i had machine work done, do you think they took them out and put them back in? And if you guys advise me too, ill take the pan back off and look..

But can i get a pic of these squirters so i know what im looking for?

For the pan use a 1/4" bead.

When I had work done to my block last time, the machine shop I used took them out and gave them to me when I picked up my parts. Definitely make sure your oil squirters are in. You should be able to see all 4 from the bottom with the oil pan off.

they squirt oil on the bottom of the pistons and wrist pins . and if they took them to machine the engine and then put them back in , you should pull them back out and put new crush washers in becuz they will leak oil out of the bottom of them instead of squirting oil on the pistons.

And if there in i would take them out and clean them. Machine shop mite have left them in while honed or bored.

that still doesnt tell me what they look like or where they are..


And where can i buy them and the "crush washers" at?

They bolt up inside the block on the bottom side of the cylinders . they have a banjo style bolt that goes thru them, and they have a bit of a hook on them that squirts oil on the underside of the piston. you'll have to pull the pan to get to them. and i bought the crush washers from dsm graveyard. they come two to a set , and you need four sets for a total of 8 washers.

THe thing is.. i never took them out.. at all. I know for a fact that my engine didnt come with them...

so is it safe to assume i don't need them then? If im doing a stock rebuild?

no you absolutly have to have oil squirters or your your rods and pistons will essentially melt from the heat. non turbo motors have no oil squirters cause the dont have the turbo and dont produce the heat capabilities of which a turbo motor can. You do need the washers as well and the one thing i have learned through out the years is if you doubt it check it and most likely replace it.

I NEVER took out those oil squirter things that everyone saying i have..
and i don't have a place to put them..


soo... my car must not have them? and it is a 4g63...
