Raspy Loud Exhaust no more!

As you my profile states, I have the 2.5" pacesetter cat-back, not only was the muffler ugly as hell it sounded like a honda. First I thought lets get rid of that ugly ass muffler and get a nice looking ebay special. Well, that only took care of the look, it still sounded like crap. Today i went to the muffler shop and had them weld in like a 20" resonator right after the cat because that the only place the long SOB would fit, low and behold I have a very nice sounding exhaust!!!!

So for all you guys that think your exhaust may be a bit raspy and to loud with the popping after letting off the throttle I highly suggest getting a resonator, I am so very happy at the moment!

thats awesome, my exhausts sounds like crap, it didnt do it until i put on the pacesetter header, before it sounded awesome, but once the header was on that when it started, i think its my muffler because the inside of it was falling apart, im thinkin of changing it, but i might do what you did, how much did it all cost together? Thanks.

I also have the pacesetter header and i know what your talking about my exhaust got much louder/raspier after its install. I tryed a high flow cat along with the new muffler and that did nothing, the resonator made a world of difference, and cost $52.18 installed. Kinda pricey but, sounds 200% better. You running the stock muffler or what do you have?

God I feel stupid... But what exactly is a resonator? I'm trying to picture what this might look like, and do but i have no idea. Maybe someone could elaborate? Can any muffler shop do this? Does it decrease flow?

in simple terms, when u let off your gas it stops that poping sound.. makes everything flow smoother almost.. its palced behind your cat... its alittle thicker then your pipe.. i got on my car too

It kinda looks like these cheap ebay cats Heres a link to a pic http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=114296 Any muffler shop shoiuld have them in stock, and since the resonator starts off as big as your pipe, then gets bigger where on the inside are these little metal "u" 's that tone the exhaust down, definetely not a restriction

I like my burbly exhaust just the way it is a turbocharger is the best modification you can make to your exhaust, in my opinion.

i have a muffler from obxr, it was the deep throaty type, sounded real good up until the header. not only does the exhaust sound like ass, but my car is misfiring/bucking real hard. :thumbdown

My exhuast setup is still the same. 2 1/2" piping, custom made test pipe, glass pack before axle, test pipe. That is an loud exhuast. Not only did it sound like a v8. Yes it did. When ever I let off the exhuast it would pop and boom. It sounded really good. When I did the turbo conversion I made myself a 2 1/4 waste gate dump and a custom 3" down pipe. This made my car sound bad ass. It sounded like a damm semi almost hitting boost. I loved it. Most people didnt like how loud it was but I liked.

We all-too-often overlook resources like grimey muffler shops. And it's too bad, because those guys are doing exhaust for a living, and can make just about any noise you want from a car- or, any quiet. They know what they're doing.
