Loud knocking noise

With that kit on ebay it does seem to have everything you will need for the parts. Keep in mind of the reasons that you might have lost your last motor. I wouldn't go cheap on the oil pump. Those bearing in the kit are good but Iv never used or heard of the other brands in the kit. I would research that kit a little bit more before you buy it. Howellautomotive.com has a rebuild kit that has good parts but it would cost a little more and there are more websites with good prices.

OK I was just looking at my parts today and I noticed that connecting rod number one looks like it is broken but fits together perfectly. Here is pictures. There is no crease where there would be a straight line.

Rods with cracked or "fracture-split" big ends are common on modern engines. The fracturing creates a unique interface that "locks" together only one way and does so very precisely. The more accurate interface ensures a uniform big end diameter and shape.

reference: the all mighty google :)

If none of the other rods are like this then I would assume someone previously replaced the rod end with an aftermarket/newer replacement version of the original.- this is an assumption, maybe somebody witha 420a can elaborate/confirm all #1 piston rods are like that or if this is effectively a different version of the intended OEM.

Okay, I could tell three block had been in before and rod number one is a different color than the rest no burnt oil on it ad much savage others. Thanks it scared me when I seen this. I didn't know what happen.

Take the oil pan off and check. It's teal easy take the caps off and if it's good just torque them down to specs just put everything back one the exact same way

Hey guys I think I am having the same problem. I just got this car 4 days ago and finally got it to run. and it has the similar knock sound. Here is a link to the video so you can hear it. Thanks in advance. IMG_00661.mp4 video by SavageDog - Photobucket

Your engine bay looks like a nightmare. Hopefully you take better care than what the bay looks like in the video. if the valve cover wasn't white I wouldn't be able to determine whats in there at all :/ and Im pretty sure you spun a bearing too.

he has a gsx, he would have to take the transfer case off first, not too hard but a little bit more involved.

Oh I'm glad mine was easier I couldn't really tell to much in the video I was mostly listen at work but sounds the same as mine.
