Run a cat, but not a muffler. I don't think I've seen that too often. Haha.

I never considered that, its a very interesting idea. I could eliminate the muffler and use straight pipe.
But I've seen straight pipe cars and heard them too... its not pretty.
Might not pass DB check at a track, but it should technically be street-legal as long as you're not driving through noise ordinance neighborhoods.
Well ultimatly hawaii has safety check laws. Technically my car is not street legal in hawaii because I have coilovers, even though I'm at stock ride height. Any modifications to you vehicle here you have to get a reconstruction permit to pass and have a valid safety check.
Fyi I'm getting my safety check done then getting the apexi dual n1 system if it will fit.
Dual n1 will look horrible, the bumper cutout is no where near big enough to fit 2 n1 mufflers. Just go with a thermal r&d catback, or a normal apexi n1 system.
Anything involving removing the cat on a car originally equipped with one is no longer street legal. It's a federal offense. But so is messing with any of the emissions equipment.
I run a full v-band 3" exhaust that Joe from Redjack Racing made for me. I had a Megan Racing exhaust before, it was nice...but nothing like no cat and no muffler. You want a "rally exhaust", that to me is a rally exhaust. Of course, I drive my DSM maybe once every week in the warmer months...and I could care less about the noise and emissions testing here in NY.

Hands down, Thermal R&D is the best looking bolt on exhaust and sounds great!
So I'm at the shop and they said that I would lose my bottom end if I use a 3in catback system.

I yearn for the day that people stop recommending the N1 for DSMs.
